What you'll be doing...

As the Principal Security Architect for the public sector Federal Aviation Administration Enterprise Network Engineering Services (FENS) Enterprise Services team, you will be part of a multi-discipline engineering and security Architecture team that is responsible for delivering and managing designs for a mission critical, life/safety infrastructure based on Verizon's solutions and services.

You are well versed across multiple technology disciplines to include but not limited to Enterprise Solutions, MPLS, Cyber Security, Managed Services, Cisco DMPVN, Wireless (4G and 5G), application performance, network timing, SOA, DNS, IP management, IT, Cloud, Enterprise Solutions, and more. You will work in a cross-functional and cross-organizational environment (including third party partners) to facilitate and deliver the FENS initial and on-going security infrastructure for the FAA complex requirements throughout the lifecycle of the FENS program. You will be focused on the technical security aspects of delivering integrated architectures for the FAA FENS opportunity.

The goal will be to deliver the best technical solutions along with the best customer service. In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Understanding customer mission and business challenges.
  • Providing network security designs, solution deployment, and user documentation.
  • Designing, implementing, and supporting security solutions that solve the customer need.
  • Leading architecture standards of network security design, incorporating new integrations and services to improve the network security.
  • Designing Security solutions that meet NIST and DoD Zero-Trust frameworks.
  • Identifying, owning, and driving security architecture in enterprise services lifecycle delivery processes.
  • Evaluating current or emerging technologies to consider factors such as cost, portability, compatibility, or usability
  • Conducting and building business and cost models based on technical security architecture
  • Leading and guiding internal and external teams with creating and delivering complex, integrated security solutions to meet our customer requirements, operations and engineering teams on advanced network issues, and performing evaluations and quality control analyses.

You enjoy working in a dynamic environment and can balance contending demands and priorities.

You'll need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in designing and implementing security stacks based on federal FISMA and FEDRamp control families.
  • Understanding of Zero-Trust and in developing technology roadmaps that will integrate Zero-trust over the life-cycle of the system.
  • Six or more years of experience in documenting technical network security designs, High-level and Low-level Designs including rack elevation, cable run lists and configurations.
  • Experience in a variety of security products and services that support cyber security architectures.
  • Understand how to integrate security services with networking services to ensure seamless operations and performance.
  • Knowledge of technical product and systems development lifecycle within a large global enterprise environment.
  • Currently hold, or ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance.
  • Experience managing large-scale technical programs with end-to-end accountability.
  • Experience in communicating (written and spoken) highly technical, multi-faceted (e.g., network, security) solutions to customers in a simple, understandable manner.
    • Experience in two or more technical areas listed:
    • Security Products and Services (e.g., Cisco Firepower, Palo Alto, F5, Packet
    • Capture (Endace), Stealthwatch, Radware).
    • Security (DDOS, FW, IDS, WAF, DDI, SIEM, Analytics, Micro-segmentation).
    • Data and IP Services (MPLS, SIP, internet, VPN, SDN, NFV, SDWAN).
    • Cisco DMVPN.
    • Access Technologies (TDM, Ethernet).
    • Network Operations (Managed Services for WLAN, LAN, WAN, IP PBX,
    • Automation/Orchestration).
    • Cloud and Data Center Outsourcing (application management, compute
    • and storage, virtualization, IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS).
    • Wireless technologies (IoT).

Even better if you have one or more of the following:
  • Master's Degree in a technical or business area.
  • CCNP Security Certification
  • CCIE Security Certification.
  • Knowledge of Openstack, Linux, and VM.
  • Public Sector Domain Experience to include both Federal and Department of
  • Defense contract and procurement experience.
  • Experience in the Aviation industry.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication, organization and project management skills.
  • Highly organized with an ability to manage competing priorities.
