What you’ll be doing...

The primary goal of this position is to support the global transitions and implementations for managed security customers and will be responsible for design, implementation, and maintenance of Fortigate, Fortinet, Checkpoint, Cisco ASA firewalls and F5 load balancers. You will also configure, optimize, and maintainthe associated management infrastructure including enterprise level Fortimanager and Fortianalyzer. You will collaborate with network engineering and project management to create and implement custom solutions that adhere as closely as possible to existing design standards. You will provide research and analysis for planning, organizing, and managing project related network security tasks. In addition to the design and consultation responsibilities, this role will also perform implementation and delivery of firewall and security technologies including refresh and migration activities, support the operations teams on escalated incidents, and support off-hours maintenance activities for release management and changes associated with assigned projects.

  • Design, install, configure, and troubleshoot Fortigate and Fortianalyzer products.
  • Serve as the network security design authority on customer-requested security programs related to Fortigate firewalls and Fortianalyzer SIEM.
  • Collaborate with Network Engineering and Project Management to create and implement custom security solutions that adhere as closely as possible to existing design standards.
  • Provide expert level research and analysis for planning, organizing, and managing corporate-wide network security functions related to firewalls.
  • Give presentations via training sessions, web pages, or 1-to-1 training to the floor engineers on designs that are being implemented.
  • Translate functional business requirements into a technical solution that conforms to global design standards.
  • Research developments related to Fortigate and Fortianalyzer and based on business requirements, propose changes, contribute to migration and logical implementation plans as needed.
  • Understand and effectively articulate the implications and impact that proposed architectural changes will have on the business (to technical and nontechnical audiences).
  • Represent Verizon's managed security services in technical discussions with the customer.
  • Communicate managed services impact of design decisions that deviate from standards.
  • Develop lab scenarios to mock user environments and test components of proposed solutions.
  • Provide input into the security technology plan for the organization, and ensures that plans for their assigned technology discipline integrate effectively with other aspects of the technical infrastructure.
  • Deliver detailed project documentation to both the customer and operations that fully describes new implementations and is used as the primary reference for day-to-day management.
  • Responsible for the protection of Verizon customer proprietary network information and Verizon information assets.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Four or more years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting Enterprise Gateway environments including two or more of the following technologies:
    • Firewalls ( Fortinet, Palo Alto, ASA/Firepower, Check Point, SRX)
    • Proxy and AV solutions (Bluecoat, Cisco IronPort, Zscaler)
    • Global and Local load balancing (F5, Citrix Netscaler)
    • Remote Access (Palo Alto, Fortinet, ASA/Firepower, Pulse Secure, F5 APM)
    • Enterprise Management Administration (Panorama, Fortimanager, Cisco Security Manager, Provider-1, Big IQ)
  • Experience with external services environments including SSL certificate exchange, remote access solutions, and business to business interconnects
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical field.
  • Master's segree or MBA.
  • Six or more years of security device design, implementation, and configuration.
  • Fortimanager Scripting.
  • Linux/Unixcli andscripting
  • Strong understanding of industry trends in all areas of Information Security.
  • Experience working in 24 x 7 centers with complex, high transaction, high availability environments.
  • In depth understanding of networking technologies, eg. Cisco routers and switches.
  • Extensive and hands on experience with both physical and network/host level security.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to team within and outside of the operations group.
  • Strong multidiscipline, operations and implementations background with emphasis on supporting business critical environments.
  • Industry Certifications: ITILv3, CISSP, CEH, Fortinet Network Security Expert (FNSE) 3+, Palo Alto Certified Network Security Administrator (CNSA) , Certified Network Security Engineer (CNSE), Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) – Security. CCNP –Security, Checkpoint Certified Security Administrator/Expert (CCSA, CCSE)
  • Security Security Certifications: F5- Certified Administrator (CA), Certified Technical Specialist (CTS): LTM/DNS/ASM/iRules, Bluecoat Certified Proxy Administrator (BCCPA)
  • Industry Certifications: ITILv3, CISSP
