Responsibilities

James F. Butler & Associates, insurance staff counsel for State Farm Insurance Companies, is seeking an attorney with 1-5 years legal experience to join the No Fault/PIP Team in our Jericho NY office. The selected candidate will handle a high-volume caseload of PIP matters in both the arbitration (AAA) and litigation formats. The attorney will be responsible for handling a caseload from inception through discovery, motion practice, and trial in a fast-paced environment committed to quality of work. Competitive candidates will demonstrate an exceptional knowledge of civil procedure along with evidence and trial procedures. The selected candidate will possess outstanding research abilities, written and oral advocacy skills, and will be well organized, detail oriented, and have the ability to independently manage a busy time sensitive caseload. The position is classified as a hybrid role, meaning that the work arrangement calls for hours in the office and virtually. Everyone in a hybrid role is required to spend approximately 60% of the time within the office. Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs. Based in Jericho, NY, this position will require travel and appearances on Long Island and in the 5 boroughs of Metro New York. We enjoy an active, busy civil trial practice. We provide a congenial, team-oriented professional work environment with skilled support staff.

Qualifications

• Law degree from ABA accredited law school and excellent academic credentials
• An active license to practice law in New York and be a member in good standing with the state bar
• 1-5 years of legal experience
• Previous experience in No Fault/PIP is a plus
• Experience in drafting and orally arguing summary judgment motions
• Experience working in a team environment and directing support staff on clerical and administrative matters related to file handling
• Strong automation/technological skills for lawsuit handling and courtroom presentation
