Work you'll do

As a Service Management Office (SMO) Manager, you will interface and partner with key program stakeholders to develop organizations' capability to achieve its strategic objectives. You will focus on ensuring program success by driving alignment between program stakeholders and the overall program outcomes.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Program and Project Management Requirements:

  • Track and ensure the timely reviews, approvals and delivery of key services, deliverables, milestones, work products, and activities.
  • Work closely with track leads to ensure program and project timelines are adhered to.
  • Work closely with the Engagement Financial Advisors to track and review program financial variances.
  • Work closely with the Engagement Financial Advisors and client to ensure compliance in monthly and milestone invoicing.
  • Oversee seamless implementation of program resource management (e.g., onboarding, offboarding, timesheet compliance, engagement ways of working, etc.)
  • Responsible for ensuring resource needs of various delivery and project teams are updated and pipeline of resources are matched with needs.
  • Responsible for overall internal program communication to cascade key seasonal and ad-hoc information.
  • Work closely with key program stakeholders to identify, itemize, categorize, prioritize and respond to risks and issues. Responsible for follow up of risk mitigation actions.
  • Responsible for tracking and following up on program actions and decisions.
  • Responsible for gathering, analyzing, and presenting key status updates from various delivery and project teams.
  • Responsible for driving program well-being and recognition initiatives.
  • Facilitate the risk review process and manage the process to initiate and execute change requests, new SOWs, and other contractual requirements, partnering multiple internal and external stakeholders to achieve the desired outcomes.
  • Oversee the performance of SMO team members.
  • Previous experience in project planning, budget oversight and staffing of project teams.
  • Contribute to practice development initiatives including culture building, internal community involvement, eminence, recruiting, whitepapers, etc.
  • Provide training, coaching and/or mentoring of team members.

Additional PM+ requirements:
  • Ability to:
    • Understand the needs of internal (e.g., PPMDs, team leads, etc.) and external stakeholders (e.g., Client sponsors and leads) to develop engaging and value-add content through various channels (e.g., status reports, slides, change requests, SOWs, etc.).
    • Develop internal and client presentation material that clearly addresses the objectives of the presentation. Presentations should be neat, succinct, well-thought through, and aesthetically optimized.
    • Review content developed by program team members to ensure at a high level that it is understandable and addresses the client needs.
    • Work through other team members to achieve results, effectively engaging stakeholders (one-on-one and one-to-many) to understand requirements, identify obstacles or barriers, define best-fit responses, and follow through on actions.
    • Negotiate, influence, and convince stakeholders of various program priorities that require additional effort or focus to create win-win situations.
    • Connect the dots across multiple workstreams and projects in the program and understand the interdependencies across the program.
    • Deep dive into formal and informal risks, issues and challenges to quickly understand the root causes and assess how best to address these obstacles.
    • Strategize and develop and improve internal processes to ensure optimized and timely delivery of SMO activities.
    • Multi-task and work dynamically to balance the needs of multiple ongoing activities; ability to prioritize internally and track all ongoing activities and upcoming deadlines.
    • Understand when to escalate and what the appropriate formal and informal escalation channels are; ability to advise program stakeholders on escalation priorities.

The team

Organization Transformation

Our D&CE talent group is part of Deloitte's Organization Transformation practice, where we are transforming the organization (and the benefits providers that serve them) to support its business strategy. This involves helping our clients move from where they are today to where they need to be in the future. It could include changing the organization's culture, modernizing specific functions, re-designing the organization structure, and will require a combination of change management actions to execute the transformation. To enable our success, it will be critical to use data and insights to inform better ways of working together.

Qualifications

Required:

Minimum six (6) to eight (8) years of relevant experience in a consulting or industry role, with strong program or project management experience.

Minimum four (4) years of experience working with either with Identity and Access management or cyber security solutions.

Understand program or project management fundamentals.

Bachelors' degree.

Ability to travel 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Preferred:

Proven experience in a consulting and/or client-facing environment.

Working knowledge and experience of MS Office applications particularly MS PowerPoint, MS Word, and MS Excel.

Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments.

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise mature judgement.

Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity and apply problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated ability to work well with multiple stakeholders across time zones and functions.

Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills.

Relevant Project Management certifications are a plus but not required.

Relevant Cyber Certification(s) are a plus but not required.
