Description

The Associate Director, Change Management role on the Clinical Operations Evolution team will provide strategy development, oversight, leadership, and tactical support on change initiatives within Global Development Operations. The role is accountable for ensuring changes brought about by GDO strategic initiatives are adequately managed in an operational state while maintaining effective alignment of stakeholders, business processes, and technology implementations. The role is also accountable for managing change in a controlled manner, in compliance with regulatory requirements while enabling the organization to maintain an inspection readiness state.

Reporting to the GDO Change Management Lead, the Associate Director, Change Management will work closely with Project Leads to plan Change Management activities specific to strategic GDO change initiatives. This will include developing plans for leadership and employee engagement, communications, and training. This is an essential role to the success of the Clinical Operations Evolution organization to support an effective change management process leading into a stable operational state across the Global Development Operations organization.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a subject matter expert for change management activities within the Clinical Operations Evolution team

  • Provides hands on support and development of change strategies through the development of stakeholder analysis, impact assessments, engagement plans, impact assessments, change readiness plans and quantitative success measures that will reinforce change.

  • Provides support in the development, execution, and monitoring of Change Management Plans in collaboration with project sponsors, project managers and key stakeholders.

  • Manages partnerships with HR, Internal Communications, and R&D Learning & Development organizations to understand existing performance incentive mechanisms, communications channels, and educational forums. Deliver training to trainers (train-the-trainer) when necessary

  • Contributes to internal/external continuous improvement initiatives, and participate in strategic initiatives as the change management work stream lead to drive successful outcomes of change initiatives.

  • Ensures adequate engagement is performed to drive awareness and buy-in of changes across impacted stakeholder groups

  • Collaborates with Project Leaders, Project Managers, and Clinical Trial Managers to ensure they understand the shift in workflow and are prepared to lead/manage teams through the new/revised process

  • Plans and oversees delivery of training and communication materials for stakeholders impacted by strategic change initiatives and liaises with stakeholder groups and change agent networks

  • Use a structured change management methodology (e.g., process and tools) to guide portfolio-level and initiative-level change management activities.

  • Contribute to a change community of practice as a mechanism to foster a robust change management community and to amplify the impact of our change strategy.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required with an advanced degree preferred.

  • 6- 8 years of change management experience in large scale change initiatives and organizational effectiveness activities in a highly regulated environment is required

  • 7-10 years of pharma industry experience preferred

  • Track record in developing and implementing successful change strategies in complex and global environments

  • Significant transformation/major change experience/PRO experience preferred

  • Significant, demonstrated breadth of experience, versatility, and independent leadership and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience with Change Management principles and best practices as well as experience working with Enterprise Process Management

  • Experience working across company boundaries, ability to function well in ambiguous and complex environments

  • Ability to quickly build relationships, and to analyze and interpret complex issues and diplomatically negotiate a common approach

  • Experience with driving innovation and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Strong project management and planning skills

  • Effective oral and written communication skills to influence, inform, or guide others

  • Ability to effectively respond to regulatory trends, internal audits, inspection activities including root cause analysis/Corrective Action/Preventive Action (CAPA) plans for any findings.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions in a highly matrixed organization global setting

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong business acumen and understanding of organizational challenges

  • Ability to make the complex more easily understood through written narrative, visuals representations and clear presentation decks.

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver executive presentations

  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools

  • Strong ability to flex and influence across critical stakeholders to drive organizational agenda

  • Exceptional cross-functional / matrix / project leadership skills

  • Organized with demonstrated strength in planning strategy and tactics

  • Proven track record of balancing broad organizational change strategies with pragmatic on the ground solutions that increase adoption and usage of desired change efforts

  • Recognizing and accommodating diverse regional and organizational needs in change strategies

  • Strong problem solver and facilitator, especially in highly ambiguous situations

  • Strong developer of effective partnerships and relationships with all levels

  • Commitment and passion for achieving desired outcomes (i.e., value, quality, speed, cost)
