Eaton’s Electrical Power Distribution, Controls and Assembly Division is currently seeking a Machine Operator – 1st Shift to join our team. This position is based at our Omaha NE, facility.

This is a direct, full-time position that offers full benefits the day you start. In addition to Eaton’s competitive benefits, this position offers a salary of $20.25 / hour.

Position Overview:

The Machine Operator is responsible for performing a variety of fabrication operations to fabricate our metal clad medium voltage switchgear product line which contain many parts and substantial fitting and aligning of components.

In this function you will:

  • Operate a punch machine, laser machine, or press brake as requested by supervision
  • Correlate materials for weld, paint, and job closure as required.
  • Set-up and operate manual shear.
  • Receive work assignments from supervisor or production control system.
  • Input information into data collection system as required.
  • Work from manufacturing information, sketches, drawings, oral and written instructions.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machinery such as oiling, manual clamp adjustments, and clamp/finger replacement
  • Perform statistical process control on machinery, as required.
  • Assist lower coded operators or perform tasks of lower coded positions.
  • Maintain work areas with effective 5S+ practices

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 1 year working in a manufacturing environment
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without out company sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • No relocation is being offered for this role. All candidates considered must live within 50 miles of the Omaha, NE location. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • One (1) year experience working in machine operation
  • One (1) year experience working with and deciphering blueprints/schematics
  • One (1) year experience working with precision measuring devices

Position Success Criteria:

  • Utilize calipers, gauges, or other measuring devices to assure engineering standards to the .001 precision level.
  • Ability to read a tape measure down to the 1/16th
  • Use material handling equipment, including powered industrial vehicles, to move product and supplies. May lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and push or pull up to 100 lbs. occasionally with assistance or use of overhead crane.
  • Must wear proper steel fabrication PPE, such as steel toe shoes, safety glasses, material handling gloves, ear protection and long sleeve shirt or cut resistant slip-ons
  • Contribute to a safe, clean, and productive work environment
