Eaton’s Power Reliability Division is currently seeking a Tool & Die Maker to join our team. The hourly range for this role is $29.05/hr - $37/hr depending on experience. This position is based at our South Milwaukee, Wisconsin facility and the core hours are 7 am – 3 pm.

Position Overview:

The Tool & Die Maker will be responsible for fabricating and maintaining site tooling including but not limited to molds, dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and material handling tools.

In this function, you will:

  • Fabricate, assemble, inspect and troubleshoot molds, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, prototype parts, machine parts, material handling equipment, and simple machines per engineering and tool design specifications.
  • Perform gauge and fixture compliance inspection requiring measurement of critical features outlined on a master print, recording measurements onto the fixture qualification report, and any additional information into the quality compliance database.
  • Perform preventative and regular maintenance of dies, molds, fixtures, gauges, material handling equipment, and simple machines making improvement recommendations as necessary.
  • Work from tool requests, prints, sketches, sample parts, or verbal instructions and will utilize technical manuals, a machinery handbook, or general literature to determine machine speeds and feeds, proper clearances, and heat treat data.
  • Inspect your work with the use of precision instruments including but not limited to micrometers, Vernier calipers, height gauges, sine bars, jo-blocks, surface plates dial indicators, visual comparators, and CMM equipment.
  • Operate overhead cranes to move tool, dies, molds, and general materials.
  • Occasionally estimate jobs and prepare material lists including making recommendations in the design of new tooling and for modification of existing tooling to increase the reliability and performance of the tool.
  • Assist maintenance personnel in the repair and troubleshooting of equipment as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, will adhere to all facility environmental, health & safety guidelines, will encourage communication and participate with co-workers to further identify, reduce and eliminate potential hazards.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • A five-year apprenticeship for a Tool & Die Maker consisting of 576 hours of vocational instruction and 10,400 hours of on-the-job training with a Journeyman’s Toolmaker Certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience operating standard machine shop tools and CNC controlled equipment
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate geographical area (within 50 miles) of the work location will be considered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with Autodesk CAD software

Position Success Criteria:

  • Ability to work overtime when required
  • Successful utilization of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Proficiency with Autodesk CAD software
