Eaton’s Electrical Critical Power & Digital Infrastructure Dvision is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Richmond VA facility.

Position Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for creating cycles of improvement throughout the organization by leading capital deployment, continuous improvement / cost-out projects, and other operations excellence initiatives.

In this function you will:

  • Implement Lean Manufacturing concepts and Lean tools throughout the enterprise, including Value Stream Mapping, structured problem solving, root cause analysis, 5s+, work instructions, etc.
  • Evaluate, analyze and improve operations and engineering processes using fundamentally sound manufacturing principles to ensure excellence in safety, efficiency, productivity, cost reduction and quality.
  • Initiate, develop and lead capital improvement projects including manufacturing equipment, facility enhancements and new product start-ups.
  • Foster a continuous improvement culture throughout the business by creating, leading and communicating opportunities for quality, productivity, flow and safety improvement.
  • Support new product development with manufacturing feasibility and industrialization activities including production layout, materials and costing for new products.
  • Complete Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) months of internship or co-op experience in engineering and/or manufacturing engineering.
  • AutoCAD system experience and required working knowledge and experience with computers.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in manufacturing engineering in a high mix / low volume manufacturing or engineer to order manufacturing environment.
  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with MRP systems (SAP).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project.

Position Criteria:

  • Knowledge of a wide variety of manufacturing processes including assembly and pull systems.
  • Technical understanding and experience with Lean Manufacturing Systems and Six Sigma methodology.
  • Ability to think strategically and see big picture in dynamic business environment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment; to communicate articulately and professionally across many organizational levels and functions
  • Highly motivated, works with a sense of urgency, driven to add value and deliver results
