Eaton’s Electrical sector is currently seeking a Material Planner – 1st Shift to join our team. This position is based at our Sumter, SC facility.

Position Overview:

The Material Planner will ensure material availability and achieve inventory targets through complete materials management (Stock, AP, Kanban, Consignment, etc.) for the assigned area and/or commodities while adhering to Eaton’s high-quality standards.

In this function you will:

  • Work with Purchasing, Frontend and Operations to identify/review job-specific material & stock items
  • Utilize advanced inventory analysis processes (ex. Safety Stock, Kanban, Evaluations, etc)
  • Develop/maintain supplier relationships to maximize involvement with inventory programs
  • Establish part and process intimacy for assigned area and material
  • Manage stockouts through proactive actions and root cause analysis
  • Ensure material is available to meet production requirements while minimizing premium freight
  • Work with material coordinators to manage stocking levels and locations
  • Coordinate with buyers to ensure data accuracy
  • Ensure material availability through inventory administration activities such as demand planning, material optimization (excess material) and monitoring the age of material.
  • Work with the Production Planning & Scheduling Supervisor to align the flow of material, capacity and demand to ensure an effective supply and demand balance and velocity of material required in the manufacturing process
  • Complete additional projects/responsibilities as assigned by manager
  • Work with suppliers to improve material availability through various stocking programs
  • Place purchase orders for material within ordering cycle times
  • Attend production meetings to discuss the status of materials and production schedules.
  • Participate in Lean events and contribute to process improvements designed to reduce cycle time, increase front end / supply chain efficiencies and improve quality.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and procedures, including 5S requirements, and be responsible for reporting unsafe conditions to the appropriate management or ELS representative as required.
  • Collaborate with storeroom, receiving, quality, etc.… to ensure invoices on hold are in control.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing or materials processing experience required.
  • Prior work experience using a computer, including competence in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Sumter, SC will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous planning experience is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience with AS400, MAPICS, VISTA, and DMM computer programs preferred.

  • Ability to work with both internal and external customers in managing changing schedules
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in teams across plant and corporate entities
  • Self-motivated and results oriented
  • Strong organizational skills
