Job Description:

Leidos Defense group is seeking a Material Coordinator. The successful candidate will support logistics operations of the Navy Array Technical Support Center (NATSC), Newport RI, by performing physical tasks related to the handling of incoming and outgoing material.

Primary Responsibilities

  • These duties can include, but are not limited to loading and unloading of vehicles.
  • Unpacking freight, placing received material in proper storage locations.
  • Expedite the flow of materials, parts, and assemblies within or between departments, depots, IMA’s in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department supervisor’s priorities. Create shipping documents (1149) to ship test materials, JTF, and items requiring calibration. Reviews production schedules and confers with department supervisors to determine material required. Arrange for in-plant transfers of materials to meet productions schedules. Keep records, daily logs of tools issued to and returned by technicians. Search for lost or misplaced tools/inventory, prepares periodic inventory or keeps perpetual inventory and requisitions stock as needed, unpacks and stores new equipment. Inspects tools and equipment for wear or defects. Maintains, track all equipment requiring calibration, schedules calibration with the NUWC Cal department.
  • Scrapping/cutting of excess material, maintain the cleanliness of warehouse and production floor.
  • Additional duties may not be listed and could be applicable to your current work assignments.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience supporting warehousing activities.
  • Previous experience reading/interpreting warehouse storage plans.
  • Experience with the operation of standard office equipment (phones, computer, fax, and copiers).
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs unassisted.
  • The candidate must pay attention to detail, have good communication skills and motivation to provide customer satisfaction.
  • Must have Interim Secret clearance to start on program and obtain final Secret to remain on program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting warehousing activities. TAMS, NDA, and OSP experience.
  • Previous experience reading/interpreting warehouse storage plans.
  • Experience with the operation of standard office equipment (phones, computer, fax, and copiers).
  • Recent experience at NATSC Newport as a Warehouse Specialist or equivalent. Must be efficient with NDA (NATSC Depot Application).
