Leidos’ Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) is seeking a Mission Operations Support Director to provide oversight of the Operations, Facilities, Information Technology and Communications, Transportation and Logistics functions enabling the operational and logistical platform necessary for the U.S. to conduct world-class science in Antarctica and maintain its active and influential presence on the continent

Due to contract requirements, U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residence is required.

The Mission Operations Support Director should be excited about solving problems and have a successful history of doing so. They should also be able to effectively communicate and collaborate across multiple functions and interact with our customer, employees and other United States Antarctic Program (USAP) agencies at various levels.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interfaces with the National Science Foundation (NSF) Activity Based Managers (ABM) on operations and support issues and planning
  • Implementation and maintenance of a safe workplace program to ensure safety is the highest priority in the workplace
  • Planning and delivery of the Mission Support team’s work scope; develops and administers budgets, schedules, and performance standards
  • Develop leadership, talent and diversity strategies across the areas of responsibility, integrating into enterprise plans
  • Ensure contract requirements for operations are met in a manner that satisfies the customer’s needs and that activities are performed in compliance with the Antarctic Treaty and all applicable laws, regulations and standards imposed by the Treaty and the U.S. Government
  • Influence and impact strategy for the program for the Mission Operations Support area; champion and lead innovative change and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide financial oversight and direction for the Mission Operations Support Group
  • Serves as a member of the ASC Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
  • Establish performance management requirements for key suppliers and measure compliance with requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related discipline, and at least 12 years of related experience.
  • 5+ years of direct experience managing individual contributors and subordinate managers
  • 5+ years of experience leading and participating in cross-functional teams
  • Experience with technical and project management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working technical services with a federal customer in a highly regulated environment
  • Experience working in a team environment with a high level of initiative and personal accountability.
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written, with the ability to influence various levels of the organization and adjust style to fit audience; this includes strong presentation skills and executive presence.
  • The ability to take initiative and demonstrate ownership and pride in their work to ensure the company has a successful travel program where employees engaging in the program have a seamless experience.
  • Demonstrated proven track record of solving complex problems through systematic and objective evaluation of information resulting in effective communication, championing, and implementation of change with a diverse set of internal and external customers and stakeholders.
  • Remote and/or extreme environment workplace experience.
  • Demonstrated success in managing Government Line-Item projects is preferred.

Physical and/or Other Specific Requirements: Deployment may be required in this position at discretion of management. If required, the individual in the position must successfully complete the physical and dental examinations, and psychological examination for winter-over positions, as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica. Failure to meet these requirements may result in withdrawal of employment offer or other employment action. Complies with applicable safety, environment, health and waste management policies and procedures.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $124,800.00 - $192,000.00 - $259,200.00
