Department

Our dynamic Development Department is responsible for raising over $600 million annually to support the mission of the organization. The Integrated Channel Marketing team functions as an internal agency in collaboration with the Audience team to drive donor-centric integrated marketing efforts, including prospect, renewal and cultivation fundraising campaigns.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is seeking a full-time Senior Marketing Manager, Integration & Donor Experience to oversee project management of the annual planning process, development and execution of quarterly fundraising campaigns and rapid response integrated marketing plans for MSF-USA. This role directs a team of two – the Integrated Channel Marketing Project Manager, and the Donor Journey and Automation Manager. Together this newly created team is responsible for collaborating with key internal stakeholders - audience directors and channel managers – on the execution of donor-centric engagement strategies via each channel specialty across campaigns. Working with internal channel managers and external vendor partners, this role supports the delivery of effective integrated fundraising campaigns to meet identified goals and drive ambitious revenue growth for MSF.

The Senior Marketing Manager, Integration and Donor Experience, champions an integrated, multi-channel approach that is centered on the donor experience while leveraging technology and automation. Your priority will be the introduction of donor-focused disciplines that drive efficiencies, competencies and ultimately results across the department.

You will play a pivotal role on a dynamic and growing Development team.

On any given day you might:

  • Lead an integrated marketing fundraising campaign kickoff session across channels, audiences, and departments, from Mass, Sustainer, and Midlevel audience managers to the Communications and Programs departments, to Major Gifts and Planned Giving audience directors
  • Engage with the Research and Analytics team to uncover insights and learnings that help inform testing in an upcoming campaign.
  • Facilitate a journey mapping session with a stakeholder team to help design an innovative automated donor experience across online and offline channels
  • Guide your team, help troubleshoot roadblocks and propose solutions to the Channel Director when campaign prioritization conflicts arise
  • Ensure all multi-channel campaign content is in line with our commitment to anti-racism, diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Facilitate a rapid response implementation meeting to raise funds for a headline-making emergency

Tasks

Job Responsibilities

You will report to the Director of Integrated Channel Marketing (ICM), lead a team of two and collaborate closely with the Audience Directors, Channel Managers, Technology, Research & Analytics, and other MSF-USA departments such as Communications and Programs. Your responsibilities will include:

Integrated Campaign Planning and Execution

  • Project Management. Direct the ICM Project Manager and oversee project management of the annual planning process, development and execution of quarterly fundraising campaigns and rapid-response initiatives due to emergencies or other market factors.
  • Process and Workflow Management. Oversee continuous improvement of our project management workflows, templates, and approval processes and champion team usage of WorkFront digital project management tool in collaboration with the Marketing Technology Specialist.
  • Support the annual planning process. Assist the Director, ICM to ensure alignment of the strategic priorities of donor audience stakeholders (first level, midlevel, major gift, planned giving and corporate & foundation giving) with the integrated channel marketing team and vendor partner recommendations.
  • Support development of quarterly integrated campaign plans. Engage with the audience stakeholders, research and analytics, communications and other MSF-USA teams; synthesize and produce campaign documentation for approvals; guide preparation of strategic creative briefs that drive unified, integrated campaign development internally and with vendor partners.
  • Execute quarterly campaigns and post-campaign debrief. Guide the execution of quarterly campaign strategies, plans and tactics to ensure multi-channel marketing initiatives launch on time and on budget. Support the collection of performance data, revenue results, anecdotal feedback, etc. to inform a thorough and actionable post-campaign evaluation and reporting.
  • Problem solving and prioritization. Identify roadblocks and propose solutions when campaign prioritization conflicts come up and elevate issues when necessary for resolution.
  • Support integrated channel marketing rapid-response efforts when emergencies strike. Oversee project management execution of the cultivation and fundraising strategies in moments of crisis and disaster.

Donor Experience and Automation

  • Journey automation and implementation. Direct the Manager, Automation/Donor Journey on executing the technical implementation of effective, automated donor journeys that build awareness and engagement, influences action, and drives supporter loyalty, retention, and increased satisfaction.
  • Donor journey development and mapping. Lead donor journey planning, management and documentation, advocating for opportunities to consistently improve the MSF-USA donor experience.
  • Optimization and enhancement. Develop listening points, regularly review and identify opportunities for continuous improvement of the donor experience to reduce churn and increase lifetime value.
  • Provide insights and expertise. In collaboration with Research & Analytics, define methods to monitor the donor experience with a focus on improving acquisition, retention, and engagement. Define, measure and report on donor experience benchmarks.

Strategic Support, Management and Leadership

  • Serve as subject matter expert. Lead on project management, process management, multi-channel integration and donor experience for MSF-USA. Champion project management by ensuring effective project management processes are established, maintained and adjusted as needed within the team
  • Build buy-in around donor-focused strategies in collaboration with audience teams and across communications, programs, executive leadership and external partners. Conduct periodic reviews with audience stakeholders to assess effectiveness and optimize resources and assets.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop direct reports. Manage direct reports to ensure smooth collaboration between internal and external stakeholders, efficient execution of programs, and foster professional growth.
  • Perform other job-related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

You’re a strong project and process manager with experience in planning and implementing integrated marketing campaigns. You excel at both big-picture thinking and managing effective execution. You are a collaborative colleague, excellent communicator, and problem solver.

Required

  • 8+ yrs. relevant experience.
  • Experienced project manager with demonstrated proficiency in leading cross-functional teams to develop and execute integrated marketing plans
  • Marketing generalist with a deep understanding of multichannel integrated marketing campaigns
  • Experience in supporting the development of strategic annual plans, goals and budget
  • Familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively
  • Strong communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A track record of successful teamwork and collaboration, developing and maintaining strong working relationships and building buy-in with diverse groups.
  • Proven ability to manage staff and vendors and influence colleagues and leadership to get results. Strong leadership, coaching, and delegation skills.

Preferred

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Experience with marketing automation and marketing cloud technology
  • Non-profit and/or fundraising experience

Expected to work in a hybrid remote work environment with the ability to come into either the NYC office or regional hub (Washington, DC or Bay Area, California) a minimum of 2 times a week.
