The Finance Organization

At Verizon, we are building a world-class Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) organization. We have begun a comprehensive program to streamline processes, improve systems, realign the organization and add opportunities for personal skill-building and professional growth. Financial Planning & Analysis Corporate and Business Unit Team

The Verizon Consumer Group Financial Planning & Analysis planning team is responsible for short and long range planning for the Verizon Consumer Group organization. As part of the team, you are considered a business partner and your contributions make a difference. The role will offer opportunities to closely work with the rest of the Verizon Consumer Group Financial Planning & Analysis teams as well as other teams outside of Finance, while growing your leadership and interpersonal skills.
You will be responsible for preparing and consolidating the forecast for Verizon Consumer Group Wireless Service and Other Revenue, which includes Best Views, Outlooks, Budget and five year plan.

  • Working closely with business partners within and outside VCG to align on inputs into the forecast.
  • Supportting the ongoing work with the Business Transformation team to align on gap closure initiatives and their impact to the forecast.
  • Working with manager to prepare executive materials for review meetings of the forecast.
  • Support the month-end close process, including updating all models and consolidating actuals, partnering with the COE and VCG Reporting teams to provide insights and analysis of variance of actuals versus the forecast and working closely with partners across the business to align on inputs for monthly Best Views.
  • Analysis of billings and trends intra-month to provide insights of customer activity, opportunities or risk to the forecast and actionable insights to management.
  • Implementing process improvements and efficiencies in the planning process.
  • Additional ad-hoc planning related work as needed.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Excel.
  • Willingness to travel up to aproximately 25 % of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
  • Experience in the technology and/or telecommunications industry.
  • A professional certification (e.g. CPA, CMA).
  • Knowledge of corporate financial planning, reporting & analysis.
  • Knowledge of costing/profitability methodologies and processes.
  • Knowledge of common business and cost drivers, financial statement analysis, and deep-dive analysis.
  • Experience with the preparation of General Ledgers.
  • Knowledge of FASB requirements and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Experience and knowledge in Essbase, Smart View, Hyperion Planning, and Hyperion Strategic Finance.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to focus on the details.
