The Job's Mission

Based at our Spine HQ in Leesburg, VA, the Director Downstream Marketing will report directly to the Senior Director Marketing Spine. The successful candidate will have responsibility for devising and implementing growth strategies and development plans for Core Spine and ensure strong collaboration with Enabling Technologies and other Stryker divisions. Execute these plans in close cooperation with R&D, marketing sales force, KOL surgeons, medical education and sales education partners.

What will you do:

  • Be a core member of the Spine Marketing Leadership team and play a key role in the development of cross functional business strategies. All the time driving performance excellence in Sales/Marketing systems and processes for Stryker’s Core Spine business.
  • Responsible for the leadership of the downstream marketing team including talent acquisition, development and growth
  • Develop, test and implement brand messaging, campaigns and marketing materials.
  • Develop and execute annual marketing plans and commercialization strategies.
  • Hold both the marketing and sales teams accountable for their performance using dashboards and scorecards.
  • Utilize Power BI to ensure that data and metrics are transparent.
  • Give the field strategic direction.
  • Lead the marketing efforts in PLCM, EUMDR, IBP and EDR.
  • Manage product development process and development team communication including Key Opinion Leaders and Designer Surgeons.
  • Manage preparation and execution of new product launches on a global level.
  • Collaborate with the downstream teams across the globe.
  • Actively participate in key customer visits within the U.S.
  • Provide business analysis and controlling support for sales and marketing management.
  • Gain market, customer and competitive insights.
  • Utilize data to inform decision making.
  • Using feedback from all parties to inform upstream marketing of changing market trends.
  • Utilize the downstream team to be a conduit between the field and marketing.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Marketing or other relevant field of study. Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Marketing preferred.
  • Proven success in leading downstream marketing teams in a multinational company.
  • 10 years’ sales, marketing or engineering experience.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing on a marketing plan linked to business goals.
  • Demonstrated success in Customer and Marketing Insights.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills; strong cross-functional influencing skills; plus the ability to relate well to colleagues & Health Care Professionals from varied markets & cultures.
  • Strategic thinkers. Responsible individuals who excel at creating plans, goals and tactics that are aligned with business and marketing objectives.
  • High achiever – Is creative & seeks at all times to deliver the best in an agreed timeframe
