Eaton’s Crouse-Hinds, B-Line and Oil & Gas Business has an opening for a Supplier and NPD Quality Engineer. This position can be based anywhere in the Midwest US but will preferably be based out of Highland, IL.

Position Overview:

The Supplier Quality and NPD Engineer will be responsible for execution of supplier performance improvement processes and NPD process in alignment with business initiatives and priorities, the Eaton Quality Management System, and Corporate strategies, policies, and procedures. This role works closely with Group, Division, and plant quality, SCM and engineering leaders to manage the performance of a highly capable supply base to support the achievement of business goals and closure of NPD projects. This role partners with functional leadership with strategy development, deployment of standard processes and tools, and drives improvement of key supplier performance metrics and NPD metrics across Crouse Hinds, B-Line and Oil & Gas.

In this role you will:

  • Provide functional support for deployment of supplier performance management tools and processes to drive overall improvement in supplier performance with an intense focus on highest impact, poorest performing suppliers.
  • Coordinate and conduct New Product Development quality activity with Engineering, Project Management, Operations & Suppliers to ensure that Eaton Crouse-Hinds is in compliance with established Pro Launch & APQP quality policies and procedures; meets or exceeds customer quality expectations and standards; ISO requirements and related programs.
  • Work directly with regional, divisional and plant Quality and SCM teams to engage key suppliers to drive improved quality and delivery results using proven EQMS methodologies and analytical problem-solving tools.
  • Support new supplier qualification and the Supplier Site Assessment process, liaising with the Pune SSC team, in support of sourcing initiatives related to NPD, STP, cost out, localization, etc.
  • Lead, monitor, and coordinate quality engineering activities including DFMEA, PFMEA, and PPAP, inspection plan, test, repair, and auditing. And maintain required quality records and documentation to verify that all quality and manufacturing systems and processes meet or exceed industry standards and/or customer specifications
  • Systematically gather and reports supplier performance metrics including monitoring, trending, and analysis for the Division so that actionable data is available for sourcing decisions, supplier performance reviews, selection of suppliers for quality development and supplier recognition. Evaluate results and oversee the supplier development of improvement plans to close gaps and goals.
  • In liaison with the Corporate SAP QM teams and functional leaders, coordinate projects to effectively implement and deploy SAP QM system level improvements and improve the accuracy of the PPM and OTP data maintained in SAP for all Crouse Hinds, B-Line and Oil & Gas sites.
  • Take an active leadership role in the PROLaunch process to ensure flawless product and/or process launches with suppliers. Responsible to ensure that supplier quality deliverables are completed according to standard per the pre-gate functional review process.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • 3 years of combined experience in Quality, Supplier Quality and/or Supply Chain Management
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • Experience with APQP & PPAP, analytical/statistical problem-solving tools


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the Engineering field or Master’s from an accredited institution
  • Six sigma BB; CQE; Green belt
