Job Description:

Leidos is currently accepting applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible Research Assistant position, to assist with research studies, research administration, and laboratory management on the Human System Interaction (HSI) Research Team at the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory (NSMRL) onboard Naval Submarine Base New London, located in Groton, CT. The laboratory delivers research solutions promoting the health, welfare, and performance of undersea warfighters. The position is ideal for an individual seeking to deepen their research experience in preparation for graduate study.

This is a full-time position that is based on-site most of the time (not remote work).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Data Management: Assisting with data collection in adherence with study protocols, such as: informed consent, software applications, etc.

  • Participant Recruitment and Support: Outreach, recruitment, and communication with individuals who participate in the research, such as: designing and implementing outreach/recruitment materials, assessing study eligibility, and scheduling study visits.

  • Data Entry and Processing: Conduct data entry, data pre-processing, and data management, in adherence with study protocols.

  • Study General Support: Assisting with designing and implementing experimental procedures, such as: creating and validating stimuli, surveys, or paradigms; monitoring materials and supplies.

  • Compliance: Develop and monitor IRB protocols for approval, modification, or renewal.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisors: Opportunity to contribute to conference presentations and/or manuscript writing, if desired.

  • Perform other various tasks, possibly outside one’s area of expertise, to contribute toward project completion.

  • Document all work in laboratory notebooks, technical reports, posters, and documentation binders.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors in psychology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or closely related field and 1+ years of experience

  • Must be comfortable working simultaneously on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong organizational, analytic, and writing skills are essential.

  • The candidate will be required to acquire, at a minimum, a SECRET classification access level. Preference will be given to a candidate who already has this clearance level.

  • Due to Federal contract requirements, US citizenship is required.

  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior research is desirable but not required.

  • The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

  • The ability to work within a collaborative team environment, with demonstrated personal drive and initiative to achieve goals.

  • Interpersonal communication skills are required to interface will all affected teams, personnel, and vendors.

  • An organized and detail-oriented self-starter with a strong work ethic.

  • Ability to work self-sufficiently given direction and resources.

  • Ability to think critically, solve problems independently and exercise judgement and common sense.

  • Strong work ethic with demonstrated ability to effectively work with minimum supervision.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $42,250.00 - $65,000.00 - $87,750.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
