Job Description:

The Defense Group at Leidos currently has an opening for a General Engineer to work in Pueblo, CO. and the Pueblo Chemical Agent Destruction Pilot Plant (PCAPP) located on the Pueblo Chemical Depot. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience and expertise to support the United States Chemical Weapons destruction program.

Primary Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities include but are not limited to; conducting oversight of process operations on shift rotation to confirm compliance with established procedures and safety regulations, performing document reviews, technical research, equipment walk downs and field observations, interviews, and providing technical input in the form of field reports and surveillances associated with the Operating Systems Contractor chemical process operations and maintenance activities.

Observe Systems Contractors’ activities and provide technical insight related to investigation or testing of demilitarization equipment operation, maintenance activities, process control system issues, and electrical distribution system operation and provide technical input to the Government to include analysis and written assessment of technical approach, progress, and potential issues and risks related to safe and efficient operations.

Review of Engineering Change Proposals and temporary configuration changes and provide technical input to the Government pertaining to assessment of the safety, basis for the change, cost and schedule impacts, and configuration management requirements. Support the Government configuration control board and provide technical input to assist the Government in resolving technical issues and interface with the Systems Contractor to collect, review, analyze, and evaluate technical data.

Review Systems Contractor design documentation and attend ongoing reviews, status meetings, and design discussions and provide technical input to the Government to support their evaluation of the PCAPP design, configuration management process, and configuration documentation.

Review Field Change Notices, Field Change Requests, Design Change Notices, Supplier Deviation Requests, and Non-Compliance Reports and provide technical input to the Government to assist the Government in evaluating whether the PCAPP (to include the Main Plant and Static Detonation Chamber (SDC)) design documentation is in compliance with the accepted design and the constructed facility.

This position will be certified upon completion of classroom instruction, on-shift mentoring and successful demonstration of plant systems and process knowledge. Selected personal are expected to participate in a rotating shift work schedule for this 24/7 operation. Shift pay differential applies for nights, weekends and holidays.

Basic Qualifications

  • Four year degree in engineering or other related technical discipline with four years of related experience. Additional years’ of relevant experience, training, and/or certifications may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, perform engineering calculations and analyze engineering data related to process controls and operations.

  • General proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel)

  • Must be able to wear an M40 respirator (for emergency conditions only).

  • Must be US Citizen

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a NACi Clearance upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in plant shift operations, Conduct of Operations and Government oversight.

  • Military experience in munitions or chemical operations.

  • Able to work in a team-based environment.

  • Ability and desire to initiate and execute new projects.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $74,750.00 - $115,000.00 - $155,250.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
