"**Principle HW Engineer, Product Safety Engineering****Preferred Qualifications**The Oracle Compliance Product Safety Engineering team is responsible to ensure all Oracle products are designed, manufactured and sold as safe for use and comply with world-wide Product Safety regulations. Product Safety Engineers support Oracle products throughout the product life cycle (conception, design, implementation, manufacturing support, cost reduction and technical support). The Regulatory Product Safety field is a dynamic and challenging one that combines knowledge and skills from disciplines such as engineering, science and technology as well as regulatory policy.This is a Senior position on the Product Safety Engineering Team. Independently perform and own all aspects of product safety certification and technical compliance processes/practices (including driving continuous improvements) for assigned Oracle products. Responsible for ensuring all assigned products are safe for use and comply with applicable worldwide product safety standards and regulations, primarily based on UL/CSA/EN/IEC **60950-1** and EN/IEC **62368-1.**+ Have an in-depth working knowledge of all applicable Product Safety Standards for IT (Information Technology) equipment including IEC 60950-1, 2nd Ed as well as an understanding of EN/IEC 62368-1 and associated Product Safety design principles+ Function as a technical consultant to Oracle Engineering Development and Product Teams on global Product Safety matters and safety design principles related to IT products. Ensure compliance with applicable domestic and global Product Safety standards and regulations.+ Review new and revised Oracle product designs, including schematics, mechanical drawings, specifications and participate in development engineering design reviews, providing direction on designs for safety per Product Safety standards+ Perform all aspects of safety testing with working understanding of agency test programs and laboratory rules regulations (i.e. ISO 17025, UL Client test data program, witness test data program)+ Current active involvement with Information Technology Industry (ITI) Safety Committee activities strongly preferred.+ Ability to understand and identify implications of new technologies and design concepts with respect to Product Safety design principles, confirming designs will comply with domestic and global Product Safety regulations+ Manage projects for Product Safety concerns by defining costs, creating test programs/criteria for new development and revised products, evaluate and test products, submit formal reports and test data to various Regulatory Safety Agencies (e.g. UL, TUV) and secure certifications+ Keep current on new developments of applicable domestic and global Product Safety standards and design principles to ensure continued compliance of Oracle products+ Manage ISO17025 audits of Oracles internal Safety test lab to maintain facility compliance+ Support worldwide Product Safety certification needs, such as in Taiwan, China, India and MexicoAdditional skills+ Strong analytical and project management skills+ Excellent oral and written communication skills+ Ability to effectively collaborate with virtual teams**Detailed Description and Job Requirements**Evaluates reliability of materials, properties and techniques used in production; plans, designs and develops electronic parts, components, integrated circuitry, mechanical systems, equipment and packaging, optical systems and/or DSP systems.Responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic, electro-mechanical or mechanical components, assemblies or integrated circuitry for hardware systems for the external market. Includes new design, as well as modification activities that results in significant product enhancement. Activities encompass design, analysis, testing and process development using engineering principles and methods. Technical disciplines may include electrical and logical design of printed circuit boards or integrated circuits; mechanical design of electronics enclosures or integrated circuit packaging; and embedded software/firmware design.Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others.
