The Maritime System Division (MSD) of LEIDOS has an opening for a Sr. Acoustic Sensors Modeling Analyst in support of the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) – The Analyst will provide expertise in conducting in-depth acoustic performance analysis of foreign maritime platforms and systems. Work will be performed in Suitland, MD.

**This position requires an active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain a CI Polygraph.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Acoustic Modeling Analyst will serve as a senior acoustic analyst for LEIDOS in support of the Threat Assessment Division. The candidate must be an experienced professional capable of performing highly complex all-source, scientific and technical intelligence (S&TI) analysis on the performance of foreign naval sonar systems in specific locations and associated signal processing techniques. The candidate will be required to produce acoustic modeling assessments and prepare graphs and studies depicting threat data. The candidate will be required to author formal and informal intelligence reports and briefs and present analysis to ONI analysts, leadership and a variety of national and theater customers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Daily tasks associated with this position include:

Conducts acoustic modeling analysis of foreign naval/non-naval platforms and systems and assesses capabilities within geographic AORs. Uses scientific and all-source analysis methodologies and processes to analyze moderately complex S&TI problems related to undersea sensor capabilities and performance. Uses commercial software to include MATLAB, and custom software applications including PCIMAT, to perform modeling analysis. Performs acoustic modeling threat analysis and provides assessments in written, tabular and graphical form for incorporation into the Divisions’ threat assessments and mission support packages as tasked. Conducts numerous Transmission Loss model runs to evaluate different source or receiver geometries and performances. Conducts different seasonal or monthly runs to assess temporal impacts upon operations. Acts as the senior acoustic specialist in support of the Threat Assessment Division and provides expert Acoustic Intelligence (ACINT) assistance to other analysts within the Division. Monitors available blue signature data to ensure the vulnerability assessments are utilizing the most current and accurate signatures. Ensures signature data are completely understood and covers the full frequency regime monitored by all foreign acoustic systems, both mobile and fixed. Performs analysis of acoustic modeling software to ensure the validity of results and makes recommended update to current models and/or additional acquisition. Corroborates findings with acoustic analysts from other ONI Departments to validate assessments. Maintains current and historical acoustic threat data repositories and makes daily entries into Department’s production databases as required. Provides ad-hoc support to Department’s 24/7 watch.

The candidate will represent ONI within the Intelligence Community and other customer-related forums.

Identifies critical intelligence gaps facing the Navy and works with other analysts and collectors to develop collection initiatives and strategies to solve information shortfalls. Contributes to short, ad-hoc tasks and long-term analytical studies. Coordinates acoustic analytical activities with internal and external organizations. Collaborates with other ONI intelligence experts to plan and organize analytical research efforts. Briefs naval operators and IC counterparts on regional acoustic threat analysis and mission support material.

As a senior acoustic modeling analyst for LEIDOS in support of ONI’s Threat Assessments Division, the candidate will provide leadership by demonstrating analytical responsibility in the following ways:

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires a BA degree and 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience. Equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of degree

Possesses senior-level analytical knowledge of major intelligence collection sources (SIGINT, HUMINT, ACINT, OSINT, and IMINT) and processes.

Knowledge of all-source intelligence analysis with a specific understanding of and experience conducting ACINT analysis.

Experience in performing acoustic signal processing and acoustic data analysis.

Experience with analytical mathematical techniques and numerical computation to model acoustic systems and environments.

Proficient in using mathematical modeling software such as PCIMAT/MATLAB.

Experience with Geographical Information Systems (emphasis on naval applications).

Past formal/informal briefing experience.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Background in foreign naval analysis.

Familiarity with ESRI’s ARCGIS mapping software.
