Chubb is currently seeking a Commercial Information and Technology Underwriter to join the Technology Industry Practice in the Western Underwriting Center. This position supports the achievement of the regional sales and production branch objectives and Chubb Commercial Insurance underwriting goals related to profit, customer service, and producer relationships.

As an Underwriter in Chubb’s Underwriting Center, and member of the Information and Technology Underwriting Unit, you are accountable for:

  • Financial performance, including profit, rate, retention, and identifying cross-sell opportunities, of a book of commercial business consisting of Technology accounts
  • Underwrite and negotiate renewals on a commercial lines portfolio of $3M to $5M in Technology business
  • Lines of business include commercial package (property including business interruption, general liability & crime), product liability, errors & omissions, cyber, automobile, umbrella, and workers compensation
  • Manage 300 to 400 policies related to 75 – 85 accounts
  • Develop strong relationships with independent agents and brokers in order to successfully manage our business which may require travel to producer locations

Skills and Competencies:

  • Solid knowledge of commercial underwriting with the ability to analyze risks, adhere to underwriting strategies, prioritize the gathering of underwriting data, and clearly communicate a well thought out underwriting approach
  • Demonstrated technical expertise and product specific knowledge with experience handling Technology business is preferred
  • Strong analytical skills including financial and contract analysis
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication and negotiation skills and ability to effectively interact at all levels of with both internal and external business partners
  • Ability to be creative and adaptable in a changing business environment
  • Sound, balanced, and timely decision-making skills

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Background in underwriting commercial accounts preferred
  • 2+ years of underwriting experience preferred
