What you’ll be doing...

Independently lead requirements, analysis, design anddevelopment effort for Verizon's Automationplatform for managing End-to-End Onboarding Lifecycle forVirtual Network Functions/Cloud-Native Network Functions as well as Verizon's configuration automation platform for managing manual task and configuration automations pre/post deployments.

  • Work with various Verizon Network and Application Planning teams from various business units to understand complex business problems faced during management of VNF/CNF Onboarding lifecycle and configuration of VNFs/CNFs/Services. Work the teams to identify opportunities to automate manual tasks involved in onboarding and configuring VNFs/CNFs. Based on the opportunities and requirements, create user stories for development after ensuring the priority with user groups after analysis and design.
  • Lead the Requirements, Analysis, Design effort both for the automations and the platform features. Analyze the opportunities and requirements to come up with design to implement the solution. The design must consider cloud native principles, ensure APIs are available for all the features being introduced in the user interface, ensure scalability, ensure resource availability when the solution is deployed in different environments, and ensure compliance to industry and Verizon standards as applicable. Review the design with user groups to ensure design solves the problems as intended.
  • Independently lead the development effort for onboarding automation platform feature deliveries identified based on discussions with the users. Lead the development effort for the features in onboarding automation platform and ensure cloud native principles are followed. Review the work from developers, leads and provide feedback for design, code. Plan the execution of the projects for feature delivery, distribute tasks, track deliverables. Come up with branching strategies for developers to manage development for different releases without collision.
  • In addition, independently lead the development effort for orchestration automation platform. Orchestration of VNFs and CNFs is inherently complex. Each VNF and CNF can have unique configuration requirements. Lead development of automation of manual tasks involved in the deployment and configuration of network elements, in collaboration with other Verizon teams including Network Systems, Maintenance Engineering, Operations, and Planning teams.
  • Host discussions with various Verizon Network and Application Planning/Maintenance Engineering/Operations teams to create and review solutions for complex business problems using automation platforms. Develop, Implement,manage and lead the delivery of automation solutionsfor thesetasks using the automationplatforms. Host solution review meetings with users. Review inputs collected from users and developers and make decisions. Host Roadshows to showcase the solutions and help with scaling adoption.
  • Infrastructure Management and Enhancement : Manage the automation platform infrastructures, proactively manage, maintain, enhance and scale the infrastructures based on demands of the business and support the users of the platforms. Manage automation deployments and support successful and sustained executions of the automations.
  • Serve as the go to person that peers, teams, and userscan rely on for any technical needs concerning the automation platforms.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Systems engineering foundation experience.
  • Technical virtualization experience.
  • Hands-on experience with the following tools & technologies or equivalent : Java/Spring boot, JavaScript, React.js, Unix, Python, Kubernetes, Artifactory, Docker, Jenkins, SonarQube, Fortify, Junit, Git, Microservices, SOAP/REST, MongoDB, Ansible.
  • Experience with deployment or use of configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Jenkins experience with designing and building complex, enterprise grade applications.
  • Practical knowledge of cloud-native application architecture and cloud Platforms.
  • Knowledge of NFV and SDN products, technologies, architectures, and vendors.
  • Good Communication and Collaboration skills.
