Responsibilities

Does being on a product team that manages the enterprise customer communication infrastructure used to orchestrate the delivery of over 360 million customer facing communications a year sound exciting? The Customer Communications Product Suite is seeking a skilled, forward-thinking, enthusiastic Lead Infrastructure Engineer to join us!

Our team serves as a key partner in designing, building, and supporting the infrastructure used by major State Farm initiatives which focus on improving the customer communication experience. As a product-centric team, our team members own the infrastructure components and vendor product installations/configurations needed to execute the composition applications. Our team's ability to work with and find solutions for our many business partners across the Enterprise drives a fast paced, exciting work environment.

A Day in the Life of an Infrastructure Engineer:

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will play an integral role to design, build and support infrastructure solutions to drive results for the Enterprise. In this role, you will work with both State Farm and vendor resources to drive the future strategies as well as the plans to move from our current infrastructure solutions to our new, modernized solutions. Your work will be essential for helping deliver solutions that will achieve the business objectives for our product suite.

As an Infrastructure Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Applying engineering skills, tools, security, processes, applications, environments, and infrastructure to complete complex assignments.
  • Partnering with our architecture team, infrastructure team, and vendor partners to design and implement infrastructure solutions using industry-leading products and techniques
  • Working to diagnose and resolve complex problems / issues.
  • Building an understanding in key environments like Linux, Citrix, Mainframe, and the Cloud
  • Creating, building, implementing, and maintaining hardware, software, or SaaS solutions to enable enterprise infrastructure capabilities using modern infrastructure, testing, security, DevOps, engineering, and architecture best practices
  • Collecting and analyzing information to identify customer's technical needs, suggest solutions and develop implementation and integration plans (e.g., technical proposals)
  • Responsibility for the analysis, design, deployment, support, and security of technology to ensure the organization is efficiently managing its technology and data-related assets in accordance with vendor and market best-practices.
  • Possessing an understanding of User Experience practices to improve usability and interaction between the customer and product
  • Applying a wide application of complex principles, theories, and concepts in computer science for infrastructure engineering solutions
  • Utilizing high level programming languages (Python, Perl, JavaScript, etc) or scripting to complete infrastructure engineering tasks
  • Demonstrating innovative mindset by looking for opportunities to increase product efficiency through automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Proactively developing tools to manage infrastructure capabilities and increase efficiency of infrastructure operations
  • Provisioning resources in cloud environments or enterprise data centers
  • Developing and implementing infrastructure solutions to ensure available and stable delivery platforms, mainframe environments, storage platforms, client hardware, or other infrastructure capabilities

Qualifications

Competitive candidates will have most, if not all, of the following skills/experience:
  • Experience in Python programming language
  • Experience with Linux Administration, Bash/Shell scripting, GIT
  • Understanding with Azure AD, AWS, IaaS/CaaS/SaaS
  • Understanding of Devops processes - Pipelines, GitLab CI, UrbanCode, Puppet
  • Understanding of Postgres and SQL
  • Experience with infrastructure as a service (provisioning, maintaining, etc).
  • Experience with developing solutions on AWS or other distributed compute platforms such as Hadoop

Desired Skills/Experience:
  • Experience with OpenText infrastructure such as: OpenText Exstream, Liquid Office, Empower, Command Center
  • Knowledge of high volume, on-demand and batch, generation of communications
  • Experience with Adobe based communication infrastructures such as Adobe AEM
  • Experience with infrastructure as code/ using deployment automation technologies, preferably Terraform
  • Experience with containerized deployments (Docker and Kubernetes)
