Eaton’s EPG CHD EP Americas division is currently seeking a Grind/Machine Operator 3rd Shift. In this role, you will perform functions and duties in the Foundry related to finishing a casting, including shakeout, shot blasting, sorting, and visual inspection. You will also operate machines, make adjustments, and maintain production quality to perform close tolerance operation in the Machining Department.

The hourly rate for this position is $17.91 - $22.39 per hour. The core hours are 8:00 pm to 4:30 am.

What you’ll do:

  • Operate various machines (load/position parts, initiate cycles, and remove parts) and other equipment to meet customer needs and requirements to either remove Foundry process material or machine castings to ream and thread castings
  • Operate machines such as snag grinder, face grinder, and shot-blast machine as well as automatic, tapping, drilling, and/or reaming machines and CNC machines
  • Manually sort and place castings in appropriate containers to prevent product mixing and according to finishing needs, including directing parts off conveyor
  • Recognize and notify supervision of mechanical malfunctions and operating irregularities
  • Assure all products meet standards and perform visual checks, gauging, and other quality functions to ensure
  • Perform material handling duties as required
  • Follow basic schedules to meet product flow through facility and perform required clerical duties
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner and apply 5-S program
  • Perform other duties as assigned throughout the facility

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • 1 year of experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Amarillo, TX will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Understanding of material movement
  • Prior experience using grinding wheels
  • Prior experience in an industrial setting
  • Prior CNC machining experience
  • Background in machining metal working machines
  • Proven ability to run a machine with multiple settings or specifications

Skills:

  • Follow all safety regulations associated and wear all PPE (personal protective equipment) as required including respirators as needed
  • Forklift and frontend loader certified (powered industrial truck trained)
  • Understand and utilize the lockout/tagout procedures
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at varied heights using fall protection as required
  • Understand and utilize the procedures related to confined spaces
  • Requires frequent bending and reaching as well as alertness for risks while performing tasks including (but not limited to) work on abrasive grinding wheel or multi-head reaming and tapping machines
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for 8-12 hours, to physically climb on machines and ladders, and to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to comprehend, follow, and perform moderately technical standards and maintenance procedures as well as use precision gauging instruments (including calipers and micrometers) and apply basic math skills
  • Ability to work around molten metal and in a production environment that is at times very hot or very cold, and subject to unexpected swings of overtime (ability to flex personal schedule to cover tasks on other shifts)
  • Ability to work proactively and communicate effectively while working with all employees throughout plant
  • Ability to perform basic computer functions: eSafety, MESH Prism
