What you’ll be doing...

This position will be part of the Tracfone IT Run domain, work and interact with multiple internal IT teams including Senior Management responsible for the design, deployment and management of application, infrastructure services and capacity analysis on Kubernetes and its eco system to meet the business needs. The technical leader will be accountable for the successful deployment and ongoing operation of Kubernetes and its ecosystem along with high level of interaction with our enterprise architecture and application teams. Maintain a strong working knowledge of both the business needs and the direction of architectural trends in the Kubernetes marketplace. This position works with the other departments in IT to assure that the Kubernetes solutions being proposed for production meet the common systems plan. This position will provide leadership and consulting across the organization, from strategic decision-making through the project planning level.

Employees in this role are top-level experts and visionaries, responsible for the development of strategy and design of containerization of application and infrastructure components to support strategy, implement and support micro services application infrastructure architect and manage solutions leveraging hyper converged infrastructure, configuration management tooling as well as traditional application infrastructure platforms. Some of the technical products this individual will work with in this role are run including provisioning of Kubernetes clusters, integrate monitoring, alerting, logging, observability and traceability tooling with Kubernetes, performance tuning of all Kubernetes components to meet the SLIs, Cloud transformation and migration (AWS EKS, Azure etc.), help creating CICD pipeline and release automation, support projects including Frontend tier, Middle Tier to migration from monolithic to microservices, maintenance, provisioning of logging platform of Elastic stack. This position is responsible for strategic planning including Disaster Recovery, High Availability, and Redundancy of Kubernetes platforms and its ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and support Kubernetes and ecosystems transformation and/or migration of application platform on AWS EKS such as setup, configure and deploy applications on cloud platform (not limited to) while collaborating with our business customers and partners on key engagements. Oversee enterprise production applications that process customer’s transactions.
  • Develop technical plans for major projects such as business integrations. Research and implement new technologies and new methods.
  • Analyzes needs and requirements of existing and proposed systems, and develops technical, structural, and organizational specifications. Ensure the reliability of our infrastructure platforms by ensuring capacity mgmt., monitoring, and security practices and standards are in place and working.
  • Help and support on building CICD pipeline.
  • Analyze the need and requirements of existing and any additional tools required for application monitoring, configuring and deployments.
  • Ensure all documents and Implementation Guides are clearly defined and being implemented correctly.
  • Coordinate staff training to gain new technology, internal and external applications for quick troubleshooting and possible resolution.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in application development and support for a large enterprise.
  • Experience in Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of API Management with gateways or service mesh like Istio.
  • Understanding of application/webservers like weblogic, websphere, Apache, Tomcat.
  • Understanding of containerization technologies like docker.
  • Experience with microservices implementation.
  • Databases and Applications server software experience with any of Javascript, Java,J2EE, XML, SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Proficient in UNIX, Perl, KSH, and other shell scripting languages.
  • Experience with Devops and SDLC methodologies.
  • Experience working in major enterprise IT projects/rollouts.
  • Understanding of principles relation to Fault-Tolerance, Load Balancing, Redundancy, Clustering, Performance Tuning, and Configuration Management.
  • Proficient of containerization technologies and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of Cloud offerings with Kubernetes as a managed service like AWS EKS.
  • Proficient in scripting languages and configuration management tools.
  • Understanding of logging, application performance monitoring tools.
  • Telecom technologies experience.
  • Managerial/supervisory experience.
