Job Description:

The Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) Group at Leidos currently has an opening for an E-Learning Instructional Designer. This is an exciting opportunity to develop multimedia training applications for synchronous and asynchronous delivery for a distributed learning environment. In this mission we assist in ensuring the SNS inventory is ready for deployment, providing the ability to respond 24 x 7 in an emergency. The successful candidate will interface with course mentors, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders, on the customer side and internally, and perform the actual detailed development of courseware as well as product testing, review, and maintenance.

Required to be on-call 24 hours/7 days a week. Must be able to respond to mission alerts within 15 minutes with a recall of 90 minutes to report to designated location. Must carry a cell phone at all times.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop informational and instructional products for the visually and hearing impaired.

  • Convert cleared training modules into a virtual format that can be used across multiple electronic devices using existing software and pilot the modules for feedback.

  • Develop proposals that reflect and demonstrate thorough knowledge of health education and media operations where applicable; (Plain Language, 508 compliance, et al).

  • Provide responsive service to internal/external customers that support customer and program requirements.

  • Assist with the government’s training system.

  • Design or develop criteria for designing training aids and devices based on needs analysis of the instruction systems

    • Confer with curriculum designers, course writers, instructors, and subject-matter specialists to coordinate instruction system analysis leading to producing (a) films, film strip recordings, computer assisted instruction, video discs, and other audiovisual materials or special training devices, or (b) equipment, such as simulators, test equipment, and mockups;

    • Confer with technical production personnel during model construction, service-test completed models, and recommend revisions; and

    • Prepare instructions for using training aids considering training objectives and tie-in with instructional materials for resident or extension courses.

  • Instructional Program Administration - Advise on or direct education or training programs.

Required Qualifications / Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and 2-4 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s degree (or equivalent) with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Experience with Adobe Captivate, Oracle UPK, 360 Learning, eFront, Camtasia, Surveymonkey, or other government tools.

  • Excellent facilitation skills.

  • Excellent group management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.

Preferred Qualifications / Skills:

  • Experience with emergency response/operations.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $48,750.00 - $75,000.00 - $101,250.00
