MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the technical support of automation and computerized systems; and supports the Reliability, Project Engineering, Manufacturing Technology and other technical teams during process integration of major computer system applications for manufacturing operations, facilities and utilities areas.
  • Leads the technical support teams during installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, qualification and upgrade for new and existing computerized systems in Manufacturing and Utilities areas (systems include and not limited to PLCs, HMI, SCADA, DCS, communication interfaces, report engines and data base system).
  • Ensures resources are trained and continuous support to assure proper use of the software applications following established operational procedures and user support during problem solving situations associated with systems implementation.
  • Ensures the site’s computer system administration and their periodic user access reviews process are maintained following policies and procedures established.
  • Support in the execution of the Computer System Validation (CSV) program for automated and computerized systems processes.
  • Provides necessary support for Data Integrity and Cyber Security program and initiatives.
  • Ensures the continue operations and maintenance of all automated and computerized systems, including programming for manufacturing and utilities areas as per directives, policies, procedures, FDA regulations under cGMP’s and other regulations as applicable.
  • Ensures computer operations are maintained considering GMS directives, policies, procedures and FDA regulations under cGMP’s.
  • Assure support resources have necessary tools, training, certifications and technical prophecy to perform corrective and preventive activities.
  • Support day-to-day reliability of automated and computerized systems – hot fixes, upgrades, log file review, vendor bulletins, impact assessments of updates on computerized systems and related manufacturing and laboratory systems.
  • Lead the development and/or revisions for computer and automated systems related procedures such as (but not limited to): Operational, Maintenance, System Administration/Security, Backup, Restore, and Disaster Recovery.
  • Contacts hardware or software vendors (if applicable) to report technical issues and implement recommendations and/or corrective actions.
  • Assures reported problems are solved by implementing corrective actions like (but not limited) user retraining, changes to existing SOPs, applying software fixes or hardware fixes, recommendations, etc. These activities must comply with current applicable change management procedures.
  • Provides problem solving techniques to resolve shop floor situation and identify root cause problems.
  • Assist on quality events investigations, internal audits, CAPA and standalone processes related Manufacturing/Engineering computerized systems, MES related applications and systems as part of integration with automation system.
  • Manage the hiring, performance management, training, development and career path and ensure a timely and adequate performance in conformance with cGMP’s, plan procedures, corporate procedures, and applicable regulations (FDA, EMEA, DEA, etc.) of direct reports to maintain a technically competent and customer service oriented work team.
  • Ensure automated and computer systems are identified and evaluated as part of the lifecycle program and supports the program by generating capital project requests (CAR).
  • Provides technical guidance to direct or indirect reports.
  • Supports departmental budget design and control based in site needs and priorities. Evaluates workload and capacity of automated and computerized systems to determine feasibility for expanding, upgrading or enhancing operations.
  • Supports the change management program for computer and automated systems requirements and documentation assuring the validated and compliance state of the environments.
  • Adapts strategic and tactical plans and priorities to address resources and operational challenges.
  • Provides user training and continuous support to assure proper use of the software applications following established operational procedures as well as user support during problem solving situations associated in new business and/or manufacturing systems implementation.
  • Reviews computer related software applications or computer programs to ensure that Plant standards are met and that programs are capable of being integrated with other software applications as required.
