Position Summary

The BioPharama Manufacturing Intern will work on a high impact, high visibility project to support the building of an industry-leading biologics manufacturing site while ensuring seamless delivery of critical oncology medicines to our patients. Specific projects will be developed based on business priorities, and the skills and interests of the intern. Projects may include supporting tech transfer of biologic products, qualification of equipment, and technical investigations into batch manufacture.

The full time internship will take place June – August 2023.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the generation of knowledge with regards to new equipment and technology by defining test plans for functional testing on said equipment. Work with cross-functional teams to determine start-up requirements through safety and operational risk assessments generation.

  • Support qualification of new equipment/new technology via development of qualification test scripts and hands on execution of those test scripts for different types of equipment, such as steam sterilizers, parts washers, sonicators, and filling machines

  • Collect existing R&D and product development data to make decisions in the establishment of product specific manufacturing processes at the Phoenix site. This includes gathering lessons learned from other manufacturing sites and from corporate functions. Support in authoring product testing ‘protocols’ to challenge the proposed manufacturing process at scale at the site.

  • Support several groups of scientists and engineers in pursuit of transferring new products to the Phoenix site, including joining team meetings to identify lab scale studies that need execution to support the process scale, global meetings to gain endorsement on the PHX site strategy for the transfers, and development of new content to train the operational staff on the new equipment/technology and processes.

  • Gathering information and performing activities in support of determining the root cause of an undesirable event (deviation from the standard manufacturing process), and determination of product impact and appropriate preventative and/or corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s of science or engineering program with at least 4 semesters completed

  • Ability to work in a matrix team environment with many different company functions

  • Demonstrated problem solving ability and technical thought process/capability

  • Interpersonal and teamwork skills

  • Oral and written communication skills, including technical writing skills.
