In this exciting and fast-paced role you will be responsible for design, implementation, and support of the Pearson VUE clouds, on-prem data centers, and remote offices infrastructure. You will work closely with the Development, Operations, Cloud, Systems and Database teams to support, design, automate, and deploy infrastructure.

You should have technical experience in building physical and virtual infrastructure for scalability, resiliency, availability, and recovery. As the role of a Network Engineer is evolving, a key portion of your job will be to help move from a traditional infrastructure engineering model to an infrastructure as code model with automation via orchestration tools.

You should have excellent communication and influencing skills and the ability to work across teams to create optimal business solutions. You should have the ability to effectively communicate with vendors and service providers and support third party site-to-site VPN tunnels. You should have experience securing traffic throughout networks. You should have experience protecting from malicious connections. You should have experience performing physical and virtual infrastructure upgrades.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage IPS signatures on perimeter firewalls

Review intrusion prevention logs and see event mitigation through to closure

Configure, maintain, and monitor device status checks using automation routines

Configure, maintain, and monitor device backups using automation routines

Fulfill network router, switch, load balancer, and firewall change requests

Troubleshoot and mitigate reported networking incidents

Review vulnerability alerts from logs, industry, and vendor announcements

Manage Check Point, Fortinet, and Cisco firewall security policies

Manage F5 load balancer configurations using virtual partitions

Manage Cisco router configurations with VTI site-to-site VPN tunnels

Manage Check Point and Fortinet URL filtering policies

Manage Fortinet Web Application Firewall policies

Ensure all technical solutions meet Pearson VUE security guidelines and contractual obligations

Collaboration with the cross-team Architects on network and security solutions

Manage Docker images deployed to cloud infrastructure

Manage cloud instance deployments

Manage load balancer VIPs, pools, and members

Manage certificates deployed to infrastructure devices

Review vulnerability scans and see mitigation through to closure

Manage Microsoft CA certificates for authentication with site-to-site VPN tunnels

Configure, maintain, and monitor network routing changes (static and dynamic)

Migrate data center resources to Amazon Virtual Private Clouds (VPC) and Microsoft Azure

Provide added operational enhancements where possible

Perform monthly audit log review (user access, network events, server events, etc.)

Maintain an Infrastructure Technology Roadmap

Participate with cross team deployments and infrastructure changes

Perform network performance analysis

Maintain a Network Firewall Security Policy standard

Maintain Jenkins jobs that automate routine network infrastructure tasks

Manage Check Point, Fortinet, Cisco, and F5 hardware/software upgrades in cloud and on-prem

Participate in disaster recovery testing

Maintain code for configuring load balancers, proxies, firewalls, routers, and switches

Capacity planning for cloud and on-prem networking equipment

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

4-year degree in Computer Science or equivalent 2+ years' experience in Azure based cloud computing-based services architecture.

Strong understanding across cloud and infrastructure components (server, storage, data, and applications) to deliver end to end cloud infrastructure architectures and designs

Experience automating infrastructure in a cloud environment using tools like Terraform and Ansible

Shell scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash, PHP, etc.)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to learn innovative technologies quickly and efficiently

Excellent technical analysis and problem-solving skills

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

AWS (Amazon Web Service) and Microsoft Azure

Container technologies such as Docker

Build automation tools such as Jenkins

Designing outage less systems using practices such as Blue/Green or rolling deployments

Experience with Windows and Linux-based operating system configuration, automation, and management

Experience with monitoring and analytical tools (Splunk, Azure Log Analytics)

Certificate Management (device certificates, certificate authorities, etc.)

Familiarity with cloud-based disaster recovery and HA system development

Infrastructure experience (firewalls, load balancer, AD (Active Directory), DNS, etc.)

Continuous infrastructure testing

F5 Load Balancer

GIT based Source Control Systems

Ansible

Terraform

PagerDuty (or other equivalent monitoring tools
