What you’ll be doing...

Verizon offers a variety of Managed Network Services offerings to our enterprise client base. You will be a Design Engineer in the Center of Excellence supporting customers’ managed network services design project engagements on a variety of network technologies that may include routed/switched networks, Virtualized Network Services/SDWAN, wired/wireless LAN, 4G/LTE, 5G, Data Center, Cloud Services or other data network technologies utilized by enterprise customers. The position serves as the primary Engineering interface to the customer supporting the Design and Implementation activities through the pilot phase of the project.

  • Working with internal and external customer technical teams to develop network solutions for customers' internetworking communications requirements.
  • Investigating, designing, planning, and implementing physical and logical communications networks.
  • Managing network design process through all stages.
  • Defining/gathering requirements.
  • Documenting and transitioning the project to the Implementation Engineering team.
  • Drafting/presenting technical low level engineering design documents.
  • Deploying pilot network to validate designs.
  • Developing all related documentation, test cases and execution plans.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.
  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • US Secret Clearance.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
  • Five or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Current Cisco Certifications: CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, CCDP (CCIE highly desirable).
  • Current Versa Certified Administrator: SDWAN Specialist, SDWAN Professional (SDWAN Expert highly desirable).
  • Experience designing and configuring LAN/WAN infrastructure and consisting of network devices from manufacturers such as Cisco (legacy routers and switches), Cisco Meraki (SDWAN and Wireless), Cisco Viptela SDWAN (including cEdge), Versa Networks, Juniper, HP/Aruba, Cradlepoint, Silver Peak and VeloCloud.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to accurately convey information both in verbal and written form.
  • Strong analytical and logical problem solving skills with the ability to drive solutions to IT design standards.
  • Ability to host and facilitate meetings attended by clients and management.
  • Ability to multi-task several simultaneous work streams and design projects in a fast paced environment.
