What you’ll be doing...

We promise our customers the most reliable coverage across the country, and you’ll make sure we deliver on that promise. You’ll be a technical leader and authority in Outside Plant Telephony Network for a large geographic area, proactively identifying new ways to improve speed and quality of our fiber optic build, and helping to resolve our most complex problems using data, reporting, and analytics to support process improvement and delivery. This critical role will coordinate with a variety of teams and have direct contact with internal Verizon employees as well as external stakeholders such as municipalities and vendors. You’ll work to solve the most complex problems and implement innovative solutions to streamline processes and drive efficiency and synergies between markets and regions. You will apply strong communication skills, team building, conflict management, and problem-solving skills. This role requires you to analyze business requirements, operational procedures, and technology resources to solve complex problems.

The responsibilities of this position are program life cycle management, forecasting and data analytics to explain performance and target, utilizing data to drive decisions for process improvement as well as automation improvements. This position will operate in a key role with respect to documenting and testing systems and processes.

  • Leading large scale complex projects.
  • Lead efforts around identifying, documenting and communicating best practices for VZB engineers and external vendors. In addition, this role is tasked to proactively innovate and look for opportunities to improve, providing guidance to leverage better performance from internal and external resources.
  • Actively participate in Engineering and Planning activities to support both existing and new functionality as business requirements evolve.
  • Cross functional collaboration on medium to large projects
  • Develop solutions to complex problems that require innovative and creative thinking
  • Make vital decisions that impact projects, employees, and system performance
  • Exercise judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluating criteria and data to help in decision making processes
  • Implement new processes, and drive adherence through training and leadership
  • Investigating and resolving user experiences, and complaints, support the Business as an advocate, and collaborating to drive efficiencies to improve user experiences.
  • Working cross-functionally to deploy and optimize the network for best efficiency and reliability.
  • Owning the investigation/analysis of Metrics, Documentation, as well as coordinating and implementing complex network directives.

What we’re looking for...

You’re a technical expert and a self-starter who encourages team members and business partners to exceed expectations. You constantly see through the eyes of the Outside Plant Engineering team employees, and you bring that perspective to everything you do. Your natural curiosity drives you to track down problems and collaborate with others to develop solutions. You have Outside Plant Engineering experience, as well as Field/Construction knowledge for Outside Plant. You have a natural analytic view to approaching large data

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Self-starter, motivated, technical lead and advisor to region and organization
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite & Google Suite applications
  • Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and mapping software such as Google Earth & ArcGIS
  • Experience with Windows-based programs

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, a technical discipline, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of 3GIS, CoFEE, FUZE, FIM, OSP Engineering & Construction fiber installation
  • Technical writing in developing design documentation for downstream Engineering and Implementation teams.
  • Experience analyzing spatial location and organizing layers of information
  • Five or more years of Network Planning, OSP Engineering, Project Management, design and implementation experience.
  • Knowledge of 4G and 5G network design and implementation.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness with managing, driving, and executing multiple issues simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Excellent organizational, team management, project management, event coordination, and documentation skills.
