Fueled by the Verizon 5G future, the New Business Incubation team is anchored in Verizon’s Corporate Strategy organization with a mission to: Scale new software automation businesses fueled by the power of the 5G future. This unique charter, paired with the strength of Verizon’s best-in-class network, broad customer base and massive technological capabilities, puts the New Business Incubation team at the forefront of innovation as we embark on the 5G future.

Comprised of passionate and forward-thinking leaders, the New Business Incubation team includes ecosystem builders and industry experts in location technology, robotics, digital twins, fleet management, energy transformation, industrial IoT and other emergent technologies. With a belief that the autonomous future sits at the intersection of intelligent networking, devices and software, the team is working to shepherd customers through their digitization journeys to enable the connection, management and operation of physical and digital elements needed for the Industry 4.0 future. The combination of these technologies will transform Industry to deliver new levels of efficiency, intelligence and business outcomes in productivity, experiences and safety.

In this role, you will work both with a product team and with the entire organization, to define and implement quality engineering best practices, including on types of tests (functional, performance, security, usability, for example), levels of tests (unit, integration, system, regression, for example), and execution and reporting of those tests (test automation, CICD, for example), working with team’s SDETs and Software Developers of the product team/the organization. As a Sr. QA Engineer you will provide mentorship to the software quality team. You will enforce quality assurance standards and contribute to automated test suites to ensure system quality and performance. You will keep on top of industry trends and emerging technologies in test automation. You will write clear, effective bug reports and track issues through their lifecycle.

  • Suggest best practices and process improvements to integrate quality earlier in the dev lifecycle.
  • Research and implement automated testing frameworks to decrease dependency on manually executed regression tests
  • Mentor and collaborate with members of the dev team on Quality Engineering practices as well as other members on the quality team.
  • Build, run and maintain automated tests to verify the quality of the software platform.
  • Work with development and account support teams in developing test workflow, including functional, integration, regression, UAT, and performance/stress testing.
  • Analyze system requirements to guide the product team develop and maintain test plans.
  • Review pull requests with an eye on quality.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on defects and issues, to identify areas for improvement to better the quality posture of the team/teams across the org.
  • Understand customer workflows and guide the team to incorporate that knowledge into the test plans.
  • Recommend Usability improvements that facilitate NBI’s customers accomplishing their work quickly and easily

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four ormore years of relevant work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Four or more years writing QA automation tests with tools such as Cypress, Selenium Webdriver, JMeter, Gatling, etc.
  • Three or more years of experience working with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.
  • Three or more years of experience working with performance and load testing.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience using bug and issue tracking systems.
  • Experience using test case management software.
  • Experience working on Agile teams utilizing Scrum practices.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative fast-paced team environment.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and desire to learn new skills.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop a deep understanding of the commercial UAS marketplace and customers ‘needs.
