What you’ll be doing...

We are seeking a Territory RF/Traffic Engineer to lead the Territory Traffic team’s efforts related to standardization and data analytics. You will create efficiencies in processes; perform regression/ data analysis and hypothesis testing. You will also provide territory wide support of regional traffic, ensuring the future network needs are addressed.

  • Working as a team with the regional traffic/RF Engineers to ensure that triggers, low throughput and imbalanced sectors are addressed.
  • Preparing multiple scenario views to make informed decisions about traffic and solutions.
  • Working closely with HQ planning on budget submission and classification.
  • Collaborating on the six months to three year growth plan and development of capital plans for the Territory.
  • Creating and providing guidelines and roadmaps on traffic planning and trending.
  • Conducting data analysis of switch statistics and drive data.
  • Developing and using service level indices to determine impact of new sites on offload as well as performance.
  • Creating data sets that support cell and carrier planning.
  • Monitoring current RF system efficiency metrics and assist with recommendations on improvement to meet capital and corporate objectives.
  • Continually reviewing all aspects of Traffic planning. Use propagation modeling software to develop cell and carrier plans, pursue technical issues and reviewing new technical products/services to the benefit and improvement of the overall network.
  • Working with RF and Engineering to identify ways in which we can deploy solutions in a cost effective and faster manner.
  • Developing strategies that will reduce cost and timeframes.
  • Leading objectives with clear, concise, and detailed communications on a daily basis with the East Territory.
  • Leading key objectives for the centralized team, through creation and implementation of process improvements and enhancements.
  • Leading team members; collaborate with multiple regions to reach synergies of process and focus.
  • Developing and executing comprehensive data collection and automation, while coordinating with multiple teams.

***This position can be located out of any East Territory Verizon Hub location***

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and support night or weekend work as needed.
  • Experience in the cellular or telecommunications industry.
  • Leadership and technical experience.
  • Experience in leading teams/projects to deliver results and be subject matter experts.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in LTE, CDMA and EVDO, and 5G networks and their performance.
  • Knowledge of equipment operations and network standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering and operations of Nokia/ALU and/or Ericsson equipment.
  • Knowledge of equipment capacity and future capabilities.
  • Proven ability to develop reports and manipulate information using spreadsheets such as Excel.
  • Programming skills such as Python, JavaScript, SQL, and VBA towards automation of the engineering tools.
  • Knowledge of VPI, Fuze Planning and other capacity planning and RF/Performance tools.
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated capability to communicate internally, upward, and cross-functionally.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with cross-functional team members to gain support required to accomplish assignments.
  • Proven ability to build coalitions and interface with a variety of individuals effectively.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated strong analytic skills.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and correct various system and interworking problems and provide simple and effective summary recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-educate in new telecom technologies.

  • Knowledge of network capacity and performance, and proven ability to prepare network plans.

  • Knowledge of wireless systems, digital communication, and traffic engineering.

  • Proficient experience in Tableau and data manipulation and trending.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt communication style to setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to think quickly, provide details and data to support ideas and or renounce and provide data to support your position.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate and implement alternate approaches to resolve difficult problems.
