What you’ll be doing...

We are seeking a Sr. Engineer Specialist to work in the highly visible NTS Development/ DevOps Team which is responsible for service provisioning, activation for FIOS customers managing multiple applications supporting over 350 cloud and on premises servers. Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Working with DevOps software model to implement faster-to-market IT solutions by using microservices, automated build pipeline etc.
  • Managing and updating the releases cycle using best practices
  • Delivering automated solutions with a focus on cost savings and operational efficiency. This role requires highly analytical skills to problem solve and make decisions that will affect overall productivity and avoid/reduce future system outages.
  • Delivering code/software and ownership of the software development life cycle.
  • Handling IT requirements for products and features.
  • Building C++/Java code, writing perl and shell or sql scripts on UNIX or LINUX
  • Managing Oracle or other relational databases and interface communication with other IT systems.
  • Facilitating a close working relationship with Verizon India and Onshore Teams to help maintain a good balance of roles/responsibility and business continuity for all supported applications.
  • Establishing, enforcing and reinforcing the doctrine and best practices for change control and incident management.
  • Maintaining source and version control for all automation scripts/monitors using Gitlab.
  • Creating and maintaining At Your Service (AYS) Ticket metrics for operational efficiencies.

Where you'll be working

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Associate's degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in supporting large-scale, mission critical applications in all UNIX based OS environments.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Experience in System builds, maintenance, updates & overall Infrastructure management
  • Manage and update the releases cycle using best practices
  • Experience in web applications architecture using multiple platforms and tools
  • Experience in Telecom Industry.
  • Experience in working on mission critical applications, working with small teams, or managing routine technical/ operational activities or departments.
  • Experience in the full life cycle of an application.
  • Understanding the basics as well as the complexities of monitoring an application on various OS.
