Description

Searching for a part-time Principal Systems Engineer in support of the Leidos-Gibbs&Cox International Frigate Design Program. NAVSEA experience/contact is highly desired. The engineer in this position will provide senior systems engineering support with Combat Systems (CS) engineering strategies, architectures, requirements engineering and analysis, and Total Ship Computing Environment (TSCE) Element tasking for Integrated Combat Systems. This position will require participating in Integrated Product Teams (IPT), and various Design, Integration, and Test Integration Groups as part of the Leidos-Gibbs&Cox International Frigate Design Program. Applicant must be able to independently interact with engineers internal and external to Leidos-Gibbs&Cox, have a demonstrated ability to collect and interpret technical inputs in support of current and emergent Combat System capability objectives, and must perform efficiently and effectively on multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Primary Responsibilities

The engineer in this position will provide senior systems engineering support with Combat Systems (CS) engineering strategies, architectures, requirements engineering and analysis, and integration of Combat, Nav and C4I Systems. This position will require participating in Integrated Product Teams (IPT), and various Design, Integration, and Test Groups in support of the Leidos-Gibbs&Cox International Frigate Design Program Technical Team.

  • Plans and develops methods and procedures for implementing program, directs and coordinates program activities, and exercises control over personnel responsible for specific functions or phases of the program.
  • Collaborating with Industry and Government customers, stakeholders, and corporate partners to ensure timely and efficient installation and integration of sensors, weapons, and combat systems both afloat and ashore.
  • Coordinate with Government, Operational forces and subordinate commands to support the warfighting readiness of newly designed ships.
  • Support Growth/Business Development activities within the Maritime Military Operational Sector
  • Reviews reports and records of activities to ensure progress is being accomplished toward specified program objective and modifies or changes methodology as required to redirect activities and attain objectives.
  • Reviews and supports the development of Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables
  • Success will be measured through successfully managing the contract schedule, meeting specified financial goals and developing beneficial customer relationships.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates must have a minimum of 15 years US Navy surface warfare combat systems/platform/missile engineering experience with carriers, DDGs, CGs, LCS, large deck, smaller amphibious ships or land-based test sites. NAVSEA/Warfare Center Experience is highly desired.

  • U.S. Citizenship and Active Secret Security Clearance are required.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and easily readable technical correspondence to document reviews of technical recommendations following technical reviews and collating of comments.
  • Articulate in oral and written presentations; possess high organizational skills and the ability to multi-task to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working dynamic programs with fluctuating scope and integrated coordination of multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Possess an understanding of US Navy system architecture and combat systems across logical, functional, hardware, software components.
  • Possess operational knowledge of US Navy combatants, weapon systems, and threats.

Additionally, must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with the team and customers. Two (2) years experience’ with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is preferred. A formal degree or the combination of education, technical certifications, training or work/military experience supporting engineering or analysis experience is always a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • B.S. or Advanced Degree in engineering, analysis, or related discipline desired but not required.
  • NAVSEA or Navy Surface Warfare Center Experience

Pay Range:

Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00
