Our Engineers support internal and external manufacturing operations remain operational, continuously improve and innovate. With our extensive range of facilities and environments, our Engineers have opportunities across many diverse areas including Biological, Chemical, Automation, Capital Projects, Maintenance, Safety, Process Development, Technical Services, Utilities and Validation.

Reporting to the Director of Reliability Engineering and Maintenance Planning, our Manufacturing Division Elkton, the Maintenance Planning (MP) Lead will be responsible for the Maintenance Planning Process at the Elkton site which has Vaccines, Biologics, Sterile, Utilities and Pharmaceutical Operations. The MP Lead will lead multiple Maintenance Planning Teams – each team is dedicated to a specific operating area and each team has a team lead that will report to the Site MP Lead.

The MP Lead is tasked with ensuring each maintenance planning team is adhering to maintenance planning best practices and following a standard maintenance planning approach that supports the broader Maintenance Work Management process for the site. Additionally, the MP Lead will be a key stakeholder and member of the site Maintenance Work Management (MWM) Optimization Team which is tasked with standardizing our MWM process across the site and improving wrench time.

The MP Lead must become thoroughly familiar with the challenges and objectives of the Elkton site and must be able to work with peers in Maintenance, Reliability, Operations, Technology, and other on-site partners and leaders to execute an efficient Maintenance Planning process.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Providing coaching, mentoring and performance evaluations to the Maintenance Planning Team Leads

  • Model servant leadership and Safe by Choice principles – be decisive, take ownership, show courtesy and respect to all individuals, be able to influence without direct authority.

  • Ensure that Maintenance Planning Team Leads and Maintenance Planners deeply understand Maintenance Planning standard work and best practice.

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence leadership, peers, and direct reports – be able and willing to take a hands-on approach to guide teams, programs, and projects to successful outcomes.

  • Monitor maintenance work management metrics to improve maintenance planning process performance and identify potential equipment mechanical reliability issues.

  • Partner with Reliability Engineering to initiate maintenance strategies appropriately based on maintenance work management data trends.

  • Find and maintain the right balance between standardized approaches and local, flexible solutions.

Job leadership responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Significant project management, including maintenance work management task/project accountability with the potential for significant self-direction

  • Execute maintenance planning supporting production targets and reduced maintenance cost

  • Influencing others to adopt different points of view as appropriate

  • Leading and mentoring a team of Maintenance Planning Team Leads

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related scientific or technical major is required, MS Degree in Engineering or MBA is desirable. Certification in Asset Management and/or Reliability e.g. CRE/CRL/CMRP highly desirable.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • A minimum of 10 years of engineering process and maintenance planning experience or previous military and/or supervisory experience.

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and influence skills to select/develop/manage internal/external staff/team to plan, prioritize, and implement processes in cross functional environments.

  • Strong working knowledge of CMMS and associated maintenance data retrieval.

  • Strong business, analytical, information system and computer skills.

  • Understanding business performance measures critical to Functional/Quality/Cost issues.

  • Experience in Planning Facility Shutdowns.

  • People management and team management

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Shift or maintenance supervisory experience

  • Past experience with leading leaders (managers/supervisors/team leaders)

  • Maintenance Planning or related professional certification

  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability professional (CMRP) or Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Certification

  • Creating and maintaining an asset Bill of Materials

  • SAP Computerized Management Maintenance Systems experience

  • Six (6) years’ experience in supporting relevant manufacturing or processing (aseptic/sterile, bulk, solid oral dosage, packaging, utilities etc.)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of High Performing Organization tools and methodology, including Lean Six Sigma Methodology

  • Demonstrated experience of interacting with site, divisional or regulatory audits

  • Working knowledge of cGMP/PSM for pharmaceutical, biologics and/or vaccine manufacturing
