Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate scientist to join the Protein Engineering and Modalities group at our company in South San Francisco. You will employ protein engineering to improve tissue targeting specificity and therapeutic index of biotherapeutics and antibody drug conjugates. You will design molecules, coordinate production, plan experiments and through collaborations will test these molecules with the aspiration to build next generation therapeutics with ground-breaking properties. You will be part of a fast-paced and diverse team developing innovative protein therapeutics that will have a direct impact on patient lives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Function as biotherapeutics/protein-science co-leader of biotherapeutics and ADC drug discovery projects

  • Invent and evaluate novel biotherapeutics and ADC formats

  • Design molecules and participate hands-on in the production, characterization and optimization of biotherapeutics and ADCs

  • Together with collaborators, test novel biotherapeutics and ADC formats preclinically

  • Participate in target validation and discovery and generate project ideas

  • Develop new applications for biotherapeutics and ADC modality

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Education Requirement:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent with four or more years of professional experience or

  • Master’s degree with 8 or more years of professional experience or

  • Bachelor’s degree with 12 or more years of professional experience is required.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Deep understanding of tumor and tissue targeting of biotherapeutics and ADCs

  • Strong background and hands-on experience in protein design, expression, purification, characterization and protein conjugation

  • Experience with optimizing conditionally active and bispecific molecules is a plus

  • Experience with imaging or bio-distribution studies is a plus

  • Self-motivated and forward-thinking innovator with proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment

  • Team player with strong verbal and written communication skills
