About the Role: The Translations Specialist will have technical expertise in both the following technology areas: Basic Data (internet) and Basic Voice ( VOIP line/trunk). The primary focus is working with operations technicians and LEC’s validating and testing Ethernet circuits prior to customer activations. Team completes RFC-2544 testing on each Ethernet circuit. What You'll Do: - Successfully prioritizes workload, ensures order tasks have been completed at least 24 hours prior to install - Directly accesses network elements to support configuration work required - Ability to configure, troubleshoot, and resolve any customer facing product or technology trouble in that respective discipline. - Advanced troubleshooting skills - Technical support for other team members - Assist with training and documentation - Pre-build customer configurations on PAETEC PE (Provider Edge) & VE (Voice Edge) routers and Session Border Controllers (SBC’s). - In the Cisco and Juniper routers and Acme SBC’s - Configure MPLS and IPSec (i.e., tunnels, remote access) according to standard templates in Cisco PE routers - Assign customer IP addresses from Windstream's inventory - Understand customer circuits in MSS for network elements such as voice, data, & DACS equipment for various access methods such as at T1, DS3, & Ethernet - Coordinate resolution of issues with various departments. - Follow up with appropriate departments as required on status and resolution - Identify process gaps and training needs for department - Manage and troubleshoot exceptions including technical configuration issues with equipment and various network elements that negatively impact intervals and quality of customer installations - Support customer Pretest and Turn-up activities as required. - Perform basic troubleshooting of data services that include the ability to troubleshoot and analyze SIP VOIP, q.931, ISUP and TCAP messaging Do You Have? - Knowledge of data routers/switches& translations - Knowledge of basic data products and services - Knowledge of phone systems as well as WIINDSTREAM equipment (ie. Adtran, Netvana, Cisco) - Networking/sub-netting skills - Knowledge of troubleshooting circuits & equipment in a fast paced environment - Knowledge with IP routing protocols, Ethernet, VLANs, VOIP, MPLS, ATM, Frame Relay, Cisco, and IOS Job Complexity - Fast paced environment - Highly technical field with ever changing technologies & support needs - Overcome limited resources for training - Ability to work independently & communicate in a knowledgeable & professional manner - Ability to multi-task is a MUST - Ability to explain technical networking & equipment in a training capacity - Analytical thinking, problem solving and resolution oriented - Able to react to change productively & handle other essential tasks as assigned.
