Penn Medicine Cherry Hill has a full-time day shift opportunity for a Pharmacist to join the Chemotherapy Infusion Pharmacy Team.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluates drugs prescribed by physicians and providers for appropriate dose, therapeutic efficacy, allergy, drug interaction, and contraindications; performs final check on all prescriptions, ensuring accurate input, labeling, and dispensing; and provides counseling and drug information to patients and physicians.
- Corrects and/or clarifies any ambiguous, incomplete, or erroneous orders by direct communication with the physician and nursing team. Informs physician of nonformulary and restricted items as they are ordered and recommends appropriate substitution.
- Prepares and dispenses medications using appropriate techniques as needed
- Demonstrates the ability to cover all areas of the outpatient infusion pharmacy.
- Responsible for counseling patients on their medication therapies and food/drug interactions as needed. Effectively provides drug information to physicians, nurses, and other hospital personnel.
- Assists in the supervision of pharmacy technicians Ensures the accuracy of their work prior to dispensing.
- Maintains current knowledge of drug information, and all policies and procedures by participation in staff meetings, reading internal communications, etc. Assumes responsibility for adherence to medication-use policies and procedures.
- Responsible for maintaining a current State of New Jersey licensure and for obtaining the necessary continuing education credits. Maintains a current knowledge of all advancements related to pharmacy practice through readings, hospital sponsored programs, off-premises programs, etc.
- Complies in all activities with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements for a specific practice setting.
- Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, polices, and procedures
- Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization
Credentials:
- Current licensure in the State required.
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree
- Prior health-system pharmacy experience or infusion pharmacy experience preferred
