Job Summary:

  • The Product Manager for Information Services is responsible in assisting in the management of the assigned program to support University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS) initiatives. This position is embedded within the application team and is challenged with providing support and general oversite to the assigned program. The individuals will collaborate with representatives of Penn Medicine Information Services, Penn Medicine entity leadership, third party collaborators, vendors and customer partners to coordinate the delivery of information services proposals and solutions.
  • A key area for the role is to provider customer service and relationship management for partners of Penn Medicine and the assigned program. The Product Manager will also work closely with third party vendors to provide guidance in the design, installation, modification, support, and testing for the implementation and maintenance of technology platforms and support the overall program management. The role will require the individuals to travel locally to partner sites up to 50% of their time.
  • The position will help to provide customer relationship management for the Central PA Connect HIE (LGH’s HIE program) and act as the primary vendor relationship contact with HSX for PennChart. Responsibilities will also include a focus on long term program financial stainability, representing CPCHIE on state committees, working closely with the other HIE’s in Pennsylvania on the rollout of PA Navigate, working with interoperability vendors to transmit bi-directional data between Penn Medicine entities and HIE partners, and participating in grant writing as needed.
  • Key preferred experience includes: Understanding and working knowledge of the current interoperability landscape, including national frameworks (Carequality, Commonwell, eHealth Exchange, TEFCA, etc), deep understanding of data exchange standards (HL7, API, IHE standards), and a proven track record of providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a primary liaison between Penn Medicine and the partners in the assigned program.
  • Works with the IS Director, VP and CIO to understand the organization’s strategic and tactical priorities and gather requirements for the assigned program’s product and service offerings.
  • Defines and clearly conveys priorities, goals and expectations through communication and alignment of priorities; maintaining adherence, by IS Team, to established processes and procedures, accountability to commitments and achievement of expected outcomes.
  • Actively supports the Manager/Director in leading continuous quality improvement activities for the assigned program.
  • Works with Financial Analyst to coordinate vendor relationships as required, including managing PO software processes and contract management processes.
  • Participates in the sales efforts and contract negotiations for potential new partners within the assigned program, including demonstrations, scoping, contract and pricing delivery and follow through.
  • Occasionally, lead projects from original concept through final implementation. Establish project deliverables, document business requirements, and develop project plan, forecast, and schedule. Manage scope, cost, and timeline to agreed-upon parameters.
  • Identify performance risks and recommend corrective actions to drive performance.
  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.

Preferred Credentials:

  • Project Management Professional Certification
  • Epic Certifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Required), preferably in Business Healthcare, Information Services, or related disciplines.
  • Master's Degree in Business Healthcare, Information Services, or related disciplines (Preferred)
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in a complex healthcare provider or healthcare research environment (Required)
  • 2+ years of functional project management experience (Required)
  • 2+ years Customer Relationship Management (Required)
  • Consultant experience in a health system and/or laboratory environment (Preferred).

Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, research and solve technically challenging problems.
  • Ability to implement process improvements.
  • Knowledge of healthcare operations and data structures and the use of information system applications in the practicing healthcare environment.
  • Ability to navigate a political landscape with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal/verbal communication skills.
