Penn Medicine has an exciting opportunity for Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants to join Pennsylvania Hospital’s Cardiology Advanced Practice Service as a per diem employee. Responsibilities will include caring for patients who are undergoing or have underwent stress testing and/or cardiac catheterization.

This is a high paced inpatient service where the Advanced Practice Provider provides comprehensive care including: admissions, daily clinical care and tasks, and discharge planning. The Advanced Practice Provider is an integral part of the multidisciplinary team. The Advanced Practice Provider will work with highly specialized cardiologists who highly value the Advanced Practice Provider role and autonomy of the Advanced Practice Providers.

This position will require a high level of independence but is well supported with collaborative practice models. The high-impact clinical setting is dynamic, fast paced and high pressure. Good organizational skills and a strong knowledge of pathophysiology and pharmacology are essential. In this role there will be tremendous professional growth potential and the opportunity to participate in Penn Medicine’s tripartite mission of clinical care, research and education.

All Advanced Practice Providers will function under the guidelines as designed by the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body. The Advanced Practice Provider hired by the Department of Advanced Practice will be held accountable through a formal job description, through the delineation of privileges, and through their agreement with their collaborating/supervising physician who has initiated a Collaborative Practice Agreement. All clinical work hours and associated requirements will be defined and managed under the direction of the collaborating physician/division designee, and within the Human Resource guidelines.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Masters prepared as an acute care nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
  • Stress Test experience (Required)
  • Pennsylvania licensure as an ACNP or PA-C
  • BLS and ACLS required.
  • Experience in working with multidisciplinary teams highly valued.

Additional Information:

  • The position is per diem or as needed.
  • 10-hour day shift only, no weekends or holidays required.
