Position Description:

This position is a key role in the Tax Organization, responsible for managing the audit process, developing the audit strategy and involves working closely with the Internal Revenue Service and various agencies. This is an extremely visible role both within Tax and throughout the Company. This position reports to the Executive Director – Tax Audits and Tax Counsel.

Primary Activities:

  • Independently manage audit process, which includes, but not limited to Transfer Pricing, Domestic, International and Research and Development Credit

  • Assist the Executive Director - Tax Audits with developing overall Audit Strategy

  • Direct interaction and negotiation with Internal Revenue Service and other agencies

  • Manage internal staff and external consultants

  • Prepare and review responses to Information Document Requests (IDRs) issued by the IRS or other agencies using information gathered from Compliance, Transfer Pricing, Planning and Business Development areas

  • Support strategic forward-looking audit planning, which includes understanding reserve analysis, compliance process and impacts of current transactions on future audit cycles and improvement of current process

  • Research, review and prepare various required filings, as necessary, that might typically occur during an IRS audit, which could include for example: repatriation requests, competent authority notifications, requests for technical advice, and other issues associated with audit procedures

  • Assist with the formal process of administrative appeals as necessary

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Minimum educational requirement for the position is a JD degree and/or a CPA

  • LLM, MST or MBA is a plus

Required Experience and Skills:

  • A minimum of 7 years of combined public accounting, law firm experience in Tax Audit, Tax Compliance, Tax Accounting or Tax Planning

  • Comfortable working directly with the IRS or other agencies on Audit issues

  • Proven track record of strong relationship building and effective business communication skills; strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills

  • Experience in managing a significant workload, with the ability to juggle multiple requests simultaneously

  • Ability to be proactive and take initiative

  • Understanding of the tax compliance function, tax code and audit procedures

  • Ability to interpret technical tax issues and provide guidance on IRS procedural issues
