Job Description

The Global Clinical Supply (GCS) organization is within our company's Research Laboratories and is accountable for managing the 'end- to-end' integrated clinical supply chain across our Research & Development Division portfolio to enable the execution of any clinical trial using our company's asset. GCS supports more than 300 Phase I-IV clinical trials run in-house, 400+ outsourced or run by partners as well as our company's ISS clinical trials (300+). GCS is accountable for the planning, sourcing, labeling, packaging, and delivery of clinical supplies to clinical sites across more than 60+ countries, all in accordance with US and WW regulations, company policies and Standard Operating Procedures.

The GCS Director of Inventory is a key part of the organization and a part of the GCS extended leadership team (XLT) a well. This role will lead a team of inventory specialists to implement an Inventory Management plan by leveraging best practices across our company's Global Network. This position will drive inventory management and compliance to ensure transactional integrity is maintained, timelines are achieved, and documentation is right first time. This leader will be responsible for the processing and discard of clinical supply inventory located at our company and third-party facilities. This role will serve as a coach and will provide training, direction, and support of all team members. This includes the understanding that all clinical supplies and associated documentation are processed according to exacting standards defined by our company, the FDA and EU or other international regulatory agencies.

Primary Activities

The Director, Inventory Management, will be a key part of the GCS extended leadership team and as such will actively collaborate in updates to GCS strategy, vision, and strategic partnerships across our Research & Development Division. As an organizational leader, the Director will be accountable to shape the organization to the current needs of the clinical supply chain and our Research & Development Division portfolio.

Primary activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Global inventory management of clinical supply chain investigational materials (bulk drug product, primary packaged drug product, clinical packaged supplies (finished goods) and package components

  • Develop an Inventory Management tracking system that minimizes the human error impact on our business

  • Manage, plan and coordinate the destruction of obsolete Investigational materials

  • Provide detailed inventory reports to material owners for disposition analysis

  • Coordinate material destruction with internal and external partners

  • Define and establish metrics, measure and compare against benchmarks, monitor change control, and continuously optimize process.

  • Monitor timelines and communications.

  • Generate reports to monitor inventory performance.

Minimum education required:

Bachelor's with experience in supply chain management, engineering or scientific discipline or HS diploma with 10-15 years of experience.

Required experience and skills:

  • Ability to properly identify risks to project timelines, scope, or deliverables and escalate accordingly.

  • Design an Inventory process that provides executive visibility and escalations for decisions where needed

  • Identifying key milestones and reporting KPIs to drive performance

  • Leading matrix teams both with and without direct reporting lines

  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong, trust based, collaborative relationships to drive change and execute on priorities with a diverse group of stakeholders

  • Strategic thinking and independent decision-making abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and tactfully to interact with different global professional levels and external stakeholders

  • Must understand GMP, GCP, and data integrity expectations from regulatory agencies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • SAP experience preferred

  • Experience in clinical development and/or clinical supplies preferred

  • Prior supply chain, logistics, or operations knowledge is desired

Expected salary range:

$159,200.00 - $250,700.00
