We work in the local plant connected to our global manufacturing network to ensure the highest quality of raw materials, intermediates and finished products.

We are seeking a Growth and Improvement minded Manufacturing Production Operations Manager that can help drive our Strategic Operating Priorities.

Summary, Focus and Purpose

A part of our Company's Manufacturing Division, Elkton’s Operations Team is searching for highly motivated individuals at a Manager level to provide tactical and strategic management of Operations at the site. The successful candidate will support Operations in either Vaccine or Antibiotic production. This is an excellent opportunity if you are looking to build or expand your career in Manufacturing.

As a Manager, you will be given the opportunity to challenge and grow your talents through progressive on the job training and development of interpersonal and leadership skills to overcome difficult situations and solve technical problems. Our Manager positions support various manufacturing operations such as sterile pharmaceutical bulk, sterile filling, vaccines, biologics and organic synthesis. Responsibilities include overall production execution, management of unionized hourly workforce, and identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Functions

  • Work Independently and as a Team member with Integrity | Precision | Accomplishment | Motivational Ambition | Respect | Inclusion

  • Manage unionized employee performance along with tactical operator/maintenance work for the day to ensure completion of work assignments | Facilitate start up meetings

  • Ensure safety on shop floor (interface with Enablon) including crisis management
    Assist Maintenance in restoring systems to Operations

  • Initiate Enablon's and ensure Enablon’s are closed on time and complete CAPAs on time

  • Compliance Management (documentation/cleaning): Driving improvements to documentation and cleaning systems as the champion

  • Review shop floor documentation during shift review (batch sheets, forms and logbooks)

  • Lead housekeeping audits with cross functional teams including operators

  • Union Relations - identify staffing needs based on call-out and manage first step grievances

  • Review and approve SOPs, forms and batch sheets to ensure accuracy from an operability perspective

  • People Development | Ensure compliance with training standards and adherence to training plan | Attend Union Training Meetings

  • People Management | Complete time/attendance approval and ensure payroll accuracy

  • Respond to Powerhouse calls and manage critical BAS alarms

Education

  • Bachelor degree or higher with either four years relevant experience in manufacturing or military service or two years experience in a direct GMP, biotechnology manufacturing setting with demonstrated leadership skills

OR

  • High School Diploma/GED with six years relevant experience in manufacturing or military service

Experience | Skills | Knowledge

Preferred

  • Leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate direct reports and peers to excel and "own" the process

  • Flexibility to complete various tasks to support the business

  • Lean, Six Sigma problem solving skills coupled with a continuous improvement mindset

  • Ability to prioritize, focus on and obtain business results

  • Principled communication and organizational skills

  • Technical writing experience related to procedures and investigations

  • Delta V and SAP experience

  • Work off-shifts and weekends as needed

  • Successful completion of the Select Assessment® for Leader Development (SALD)
