Job Description

New hires in office-based roles in the US & Puerto Rico will be required, subject to applicable law, to demonstrate that they have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or qualify for a medical or religious exemption to this vaccination requirement that can be accommodated without an undue burden to the operation. Our Engineers support internal and external manufacturing operations to remain operational, continuously improve and innovate. With our extensive range of facilities and environments, our Engineers have opportunities across many diverse areas including Biological, Chemical, Automation, Capital Projects, Maintenance, Safety, Process Development, Technical Services, Utilities and Validation.

At Elkton, Virginia, we currently have a Technical Specialist position available with our vaccine and biologics team. The manufacturing facility is located in the Shenandoah Valley along the Shenandoah River and the Blue Ridge Mountains a short distance from the University of Virginia and James Madison University. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply their enthusiasm and technical skills as a member of a multidisciplinary team supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Assignments and duties will include:

  • Providing technical support for in-line manufacturing processes in the vaccine and biologics area

  • Learning new processes and procedures

  • Project work - Shift work as needed

  • Troubleshooting of processes, equipment, and systems

  • Conducting technical investigations and analyses and recommending correct actions

  • Writing and reviewing procedures for operation of equipment and processes

  • Contributing to process and equipment safety reviews

  • The successful candidate must have: Strong problem solving skills and a hands-on approach to problem solving, with a bias toward going to see problems for oneself in the field

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biological Systems Engineering or related discipline -OR - Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or related life science discipline

Required Experience Skills:

  • Minimum of two (2) years industrial experience in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Project management - Participation in regulatory agency inspections

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biologics or vaccines support
