The Manager of ETF Warehouse & Material Management provides overall leadership and direction for central warehousing, field logistics, and materials management in support of FirstEnergy Transmission Programs and the Center for Advanced Energy Technology (CAET).

This position will be considered “mobile” and based out of the Akron General Office.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Promoting safety of staff in all aspects of work and enforces FE Safety Policies and practices as described in the Accident Prevention Handbook
  • Understanding business initiatives and contributes to the overall performance of FEU in safety, reliability, customer service, financial performance, and employee development
  • Managing the overall work plan and budget development including monthly monitoring of each to ensure that productivity and financial goals are met
  • Developing inventory programs that will effectively support the goals of FE without jeopardizing operational requirements
  • Directing the interactions among the Transmission Warehousing functions and the Transmission Programs group, Regional Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure goals of each organization are coordinated with respect to material needs and logistics
  • Monitoring key metrics and works towards improving efficiency for operational cost improvements.
  • Interprets labor agreements, thoroughly understands and applies labor agreements, HR policies, and other company regulations fairly and equitably for all employees
  • Ensuring adherence to all corporate policies and procedures
  • Responsible for multi-million dollar inventory required to support operations.
  • Managing receipt, storage, and delivery of materials to ensure efficiencies of warehouse operations
  • Material planning and management to optimize inventory levels and availability
  • Demonstrating commitment to influence and support business objectives to better utilize and aid in the development of strategies and processes to execute the respective departmental roles and responsibilities within budget constraints
  • Working closely with FEU operations and Supply Chain in managing material demand and supply
  • Driving targets and maintaining adequate inventory levels to support material requirements in Transmission Materials and at the CAET Depot.
  • Managing Supervisor workforce to ensure material inspections, storage, cycle counting, issuing, picking/packaging, inventory accuracy and general housekeeping.
  • Effectively communicating with Directors, General Managers and Managers to ensure an effective business relationship.
  • Working closely with Transmission Project Management, Engineering, Supply Chain and Distribution Center management to ensure efficient processes and interactions with the field.
  • Optimizing customer service levels, direct inventory target development, and maximize inventory turn rates without jeopardizing operational requirements.
  • Understanding and ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and other materials management financial controls.
  • Providing overall material support for field operations during emergency and storm situations in support of FirstEnergy storm processes.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, business, engineering or related discipline is preferred and a minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience is required.
  • In lieu of degree, a minimum of 10 years' relevant work experience is required. Relevant work experience includes experience in warehousing / materials management, Supply Chain, and project management.
  • Highly driven, self-motivated and enthusiastic leader capable of setting strategy, communicating, and motivating workforces toward positive change and process improvement
  • An active thinker and team player who positively challenges those around him/her and is mentally flexible and cooperative
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, controls and FERC requirements (e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley, FERC Code of Federal Regulations)
  • Excellent leadership facilitation skills
  • Ability to make accurate decisions and demonstrate sound judgment
  • Results oriented to meet budget and key performance indicators demonstrates ability to lead a team to achieve business objectives
  • Experience with multiple Labor Agreements a plus
  • Extensive knowledge of Warehousing/Supply Chain, the SAP MM system and related operational transactions
  • Proficient computer skills and working knowledge of CREWS, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Will be a self-starter and function well independently
