Job Description

New hires in office-based roles in the US & Puerto Rico will be required, subject to applicable law, to demonstrate that they have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or qualify for a medical or religious exemption to this vaccination requirement that can be accommodated without an undue burden to the operation. We work in the local plant connected to our global manufacturing network to ensure the highest quality of raw materials, intermediates and finished products.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead Technician Operations is multi-skilled within own unit area and often coordinates work beyond own department.

  • Work with a variety of technical equipment while completing cell culture processes throughout the manufacturing cycle.

  • Ability to be responsible as a team leader and may have minimal supervision responsibilities within this position.

  • Acts as a facilitator to resolve conflicts within a team.

  • Responsible for critical laboratory procedures and duties in the production of veterinary products.

Essential functions of Technician:

Some duties may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Clean work area including floors, walls, tables, etc.

  • Prepare, clean, and sterilize glassware and equipment for use.

  • Equipment setup and operation.

  • Perform aseptic procedures including media preparation, antigen inoculation and harvest, tissue culture preparation and harvest, filling vaccines, etc.

  • Assist with performing non-aseptic procedures including handling of live poultry in the process of harvesting tissue and waste.

  • Filling, labeling, capping, packaging, and inspecting product.

  • Concurrent record keeping including charts, logbooks, and all pertinent documentation.

  • Report all unusual, non-routine occurrences when performing tasks.

  • Technicians may be responsible for accumulation, labeling and management of hazardous wastes, as appropriate to their area, providing they are properly trained prior to assignment.

  • Attend training classes, workshops, meetings, etc., as required to improve job skills and product-related procedures.

  • Demonstrates, always, safe work habits and maintains a safe work environment. Understands and complies with all safety and company policies and procedures.

  • Train, mentor and assist in supervision of other team members within the manufacturing group.

  • Assist with the direction of others by; ensuring written procedures are being follow and ensure safety of team members.

  • Ensure facility and equipment are properly maintained.

  • Participate in special projects as assigned.

  • Assist in scheduling work.

  • Ensure work is completed and assume supervision when supervision is absent.

  • Assist in weekly reports as assigned.

Education and experience: Required levels:

  • High School diploma/GED with minimum of 2 years of laboratory or related vaccine production experience

  • OR Associates degree in biological life sciences field with a minimum of 1year laboratory or related vaccine production experience

  • OR Bachelor’s degree in biological life sciences field

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Must have the ability to read, write and understand technical information and to effectively communicate information to colleagues at various levels

  • Experience in Aseptic clean room behaviors Working conditions: Shifts, Overtime, Call-In requirements

  • This position may have varying hours based on the needs of the business

  • May require a rotating shift

  • Flexibility working overtime is a requirement in manufacturing

  • Travel is not a part of this position
