Position Overview:

We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow that is passionate about mechanistic understanding of cellular and molecular interplays within tumor microenvironments that lead to response or resistance to various therapeutic approaches, using mouse models of human cancer. The goal of a postdoctoral fellow in this position will be to yield high quality publications and to implement the discovery of biological mechanisms into development of innovative therapeutics with various modalities, eventually to help patients with cancer. As a postdoctoral fellow in Discovery Oncology, s/he will work with a highly collaborative team of scientists from the multiple functional groups based in our Research Division in South San Francisco, California.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Employing complex in vivo disease model systems to address specific questions related to the pathogenesis of cancer and the mechanism of immune responses to it.

  • Using cellular and molecular biology to implement in vitro and ex vivo techniques to dissect the mechanism of in vivo observations.

  • Developing mouse models of human cancer to uncover biological mechanisms created by innovative therapeutics with novel modalities.

  • Making efforts to understand interplays among different cell types within tumor microenvironments using various analytical approaches.

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • PhD with less than 3 years of Postdoctoral Experience or achieved a Ph.D. by Spring/Summer of 2022 in Immunology, studying cancer or viral infection)

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Sound knowledge, understanding, and experience in innate and adaptive immunity

  • Direct experience and proficiency in handling of mice

  • Experience in immune cell isolation and characterization using multi-color flow cytometry

  • Basic statistical analysis skills

  • Must be an independent, pro-active, and self-motivated scientist

  • Close attention to details and excellent problem-solving skills

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in mouse syngeneic or/and spontaneous tumor models

  • Direct experience with RNAseq, single-cell analyses, and bioinformatics is a plus

  • Experience in biochemical/bioanalytical analyses on biological pathways, such as ELISA, ELISPOT, Luminex, MSD, Isoplexis, Seahorse, and Western blot

  • Experience in immuno-oncology, inflammation, or/and chronic infection of pathogens

  • Strong history of publication in peer-reviewed journals
