Position Overview:

The Neuroscience Department is seeking postdoctoral fellowship applicants to be a part of an interdisciplinary team of drug discovery scientists within our company's Research Laboratories.

Projects will focus on discovery of cellular mechanisms of pathology propagation in Alzheimer’s disease. Postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to explore novel targeted protein degradation (TPD) modalities to prevent the internalization and spreading of pathological proteins in models of neurodegenerative disease, such as tau. Projects are expected to interrogate cellular TPD pathways and novel TPD approaches to engage lysosomal and autophagy pathways to decrease pathological burdens associated with Alzheimer’s disease. The postdoctoral fellow will be engaged in cellular and biochemical assay development to validate newly discovered targets and to explore TPD methods. Candidates should have a strong background in cell biology (Neuroscience field is preferred), in biochemical techniques and have a passion for interrogating the cellular mechanisms responsible for neurodegenerative disease. This fellowship is a unique opportunity to learn about the process of drug discovery while contributing to the understanding of the neurodegenerative disease.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Working with disease area collaborators in the planning, execution, and analysis of studies

• Conducting in vitro cell culture and protein analysis using a variety of techniques including but not limited to protein labelling, immunoprecipitation, quantification, Western blotting, and cell microscopy

• Independent analysis and interpretation of data

• Communication of findings at project teams and external conferences as well as through peer-reviewed publications

Education Minimum Requirement:

• PhD with less than 3 years of Postdoctoral Experience or achieved a PhD by June of 2022

Required Experience and Skills:

• Ability to conceive, design, execute and communicate complex experiments in cellular model systems as evidenced by publications

• Background in cell biology, neuroscience, pharmacology, or related discipline

• Fluency in primary or recombinant cell culture and performing manipulations in cell models

• Fluency in in vitro/biochemical lab techniques including protein measurements and cell microscopy

• Must be an independent scientist with an ability to excel in a team environment

Preferred Experience and Skills:

• Experience with models of protein aggregation/misfolding in neurodegenerative disease

• Experience in protein degradation pathways and vesicular trafficking

• Experience with antibody modification and characterization (conjugation of linker payload, unnatural amino acid incorporation)
