Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Postdoctoral Scientist with expertise in molecular biology and a strong interest in antibody/biologics discovery and engineering to join the Molecular Discovery group as a part of the Protein Sciences Department at our Company's Discovery Biologics in Boston. The successful candidate will collaborate with the team to establish a novel bispecific/multi-specific VHHs (single domain antibodies) display platform for the discovery of the next generation of bispecific/multi-specific antibodies.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the innovation and optimization to a novel bispecific/multi-specific VHH discovery platform by synthetic library and in vitro display approaches
  • Identify the next generation of bispecific/multi-specific VHH for agonistic antibody, biparatopic antibody, and potential chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) applications
  • Leverage the high-dimensional sequence data and structural information to identify patterns and correlations between bispecific/multi-specific VHH constructs and functions
  • Coordinate and facilitate downstream lead production and characterization efforts
  • Connect and build efficient working relationships within the Protein Sciences Boston and broader collaborations within our company's Research Laboratories
  • Attend and actively participate in our company's internal scientific symposiums, seminars, workshops, and career development opportunities
  • Present ideas and results through internal meetings, external conferences and publications

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Candidates must currently hold a PhD in molecular biology, biological sciences, biomedical sciences, or related field with less than 3 years of postdoctoral experience OR receive a PhD by Fall 2022.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Proficient in molecular biology and common molecular cloning techniques
  • Strong analytical mindset, high attention to details, and creative in problem solving
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills for working in cross-functional multi-disciplinary teams

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Good understanding of protein chemistry, protein engineering, and/or protein structure-function relationship
  • Research experience with one or more of the following area is preferred:
  • Discovery or engineering of biologics molecules such as VHHs, antibodies, bispecific/multi-specific antibodies, or non-antibody protein scaffolds
  • Experience with synthetic biology, protein library design and assembly
  • Hands-on experience in one or more in vitro display discovery methods (e.g. yeast, phage, mRNA, bacteria, mammalian), tissue culture, and cell-based assay development
  • Familiar with handling and analyzing large dataset from next-generation sequencing is highly desirable but not required
  • Experience of macromolecular structure modeling and dynamics is a plus
