Position Description:

Associate Director, Lead Frontend Engineer will work within the Human Health Insights, Analytics and Data area to contribute to development of our advanced data science application platform. We are realizing the vision of a cohesive commercial decision support suite, helping stakeholders make data-driven decisions to optimize delivery of our product to patients. The candidate will work with the Solutions Engineering team to architect and implement highly available and performant solutions using AWS cloud, Kubernetes, and AWS AI/ML services.

Our solutions bring together business, data science, and cloud engineering worlds, and leverage technologies like Jupyter, Vue and React, Voila, Kubernetes, and more. The Lead Frontend Engineer doesn’t need to be an expert in all of these, but should have excellent programming skills and experience in JavaScript and Python and a demonstrated ability to learn and grow.

The preferred candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit, understanding of healthcare & technology, a demonstrated record of leading / guiding / mentoring / managing teams to design and build solutions preferably using AWS cloud platform services. The candidate will have demonstrated consistently strong leadership skills, an ability to work independently and deal well with ambiguity and strong collaboration skills. The candidate will empower a growth mindset and inspire a culture of continual learning. This role will require interfacing and collaborating with many teams throughout a lot of our Company’s markets and so strong communication skills is a must.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead frontend engineering activities for all of our products, from quick prototypes to extensive applications.

  • Build and lead a new team of engineers to execute our product vision

  • Build and maintain web-based applications across several solution verticals

  • Lead, Develop, and influence software development patterns and standards

  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and leadership to other team members

  • Conduct code reviews, ensure changes enhance maintainability, performance, and security

  • Analyze and improve efficiency and scalability of systems and processes

  • Create automated unit tests

  • Collaborate with DevOps team to implement CI/CD release workflow

  • Collaborate on idea generation, definition, and construction with teams across the company

  • Learn about the newest techniques and technologies and share with others to improve our team culture and ways of working

Position Qualification:

Education Minimum Requirements:

  • BS (or equivalent) in Data Science, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, IT, or an equivalent scientific/commercial discipline.

  • Masters/PhD preferred.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 5+ years experience building and delivering production quality web applications

  • Excellent software engineering and debugging skills

  • Advanced experience with JavaScript and HTML/CSS

  • Advanced experience with Python, preferably also with the IPyWidgets and Jupyter ecosystem, Flask/Django, etc.

  • Deep knowledge of at least one modern JavaScript framework such as React or Vue

  • Experience building web applications from scratch while working with a variety of full-stack tools and technologies

  • Experience using cloud platforms and RESTful APIs

  • Exposure to BI tools a plus (PowerBI, SpotFire, Tableau, etc)

  • Experience in technical guidance, mentoring, leadership

  • Strong understanding of application security

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong teamwork ethic, passion for learning and desire to seek new challenges

  • Experience leading team in an agile structure and reporting to senior leadership.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse groups of work colleagues and positively manage ambiguity.

  • Self-motivation, proactivity, and ability to work independently with minimum direction.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to communicate appropriately and confidently with colleagues from different backgrounds and seniority levels.

  • Excellent organizational skills, with ability to navigate a complex matrix environment and organize/prioritize work efficiently and effectively.

  • Proven track record of successful completion of multi-stakeholder projects necessitating coordination cross-functionally between several departments.

Expected salary range: $143,100 - 243,400.
